My mom watched this 20/20 also. It's amazing that this show not only made her think that a raw diet was bad, but also ORGANIC FOOD and writing down what you eat. I tried to tell her that there are people of all walks of life and lifestyles who take things to an extreme. That writing things down is a great way to not only diet, but work out problems, etc. And, seriously, how can food without pesticides sprayed all over them be bad for you? Every reply from her was, yeah but...
It must have been some show!
She's my mom, but it's not even worth arguing with someone who can't see past what's really happening on a show like this. It's kind of like arguing politics or religion, isn't it?

All I'm going to say is this: Many people overexercise and end up dehydrating and weakening their bodies. Would any news show ever insinuate that exercise is bad for us? Or that all people who exercise exercise too much? No. Because in appropriate amounts, exercise strengthens the body. It's the same with whole foods.
John Stossel is such a little bitch, he only interviews the weakest people he can find, then he cuts and pastes everything to dramatize it for him self. he's already been accused and admitted on 20/20 to falsfying and withholding information on a report against organic food industry. but don't worry ya'll he gets his karma in the end
I would never feel sorry for John, his pretty little checks healed quickly, but the damage he's done to the minds of good American people is far worse, Apperently he wasn't slapped hard enough if you ask me. He wasn't just trying to say that wrestling was fake, everyone knows that, even the fans, they go to see the spectacle and drama, but John like usual was being rude while trying to shoot a biased documentary making these people look bad, just like he did for the raw foodists, just like he did for the organic food industry. and yes John Stossel, being the punk that he his, did sue the wrestler, i don't know what happened, but apperently the wrestler is now a bounty hunter, lol

It's not being a punk to insist that others not assault you like that, no matter how tasteless the question (not that this was an inappropriate question anyway, but that's beside the point).
it's not the only thing that makes John a punk, and my point is that John MENTALLY assaults the people he interviews, and it's much more painful than a mere slap in the face

Well, we're getting way off topic, but in general, I think people should learn to put things in perspective when opting for violence as a "resolution." The old childhood ditty comes to mind as providing essential wisdom on the issue: "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me."
i'm sorry but i'm still with the wrestler on this one, trust me i'm not a violent person by any means, but i don't think justice should always be in the hands of a judge, cause as we see in this country and all over the world, judges are hardly ever fair, we all have are own strengths and weaknesses, and ways of defending ourselves when we are attacked, and unfortunatly in the adult world we live in words do hurt, alot, that's all i have to say, i'll let John Lennon say everything else

Cute. Speaking of the legal system (getting even more off topic; shall we take it elsewhere?), one of the biggest tragedies to my mind is the subversion of our right to jury nullification. Case in point, http://www.november.org/razorwire/rzold/04/0412.html

I'm not sure if Johnny is in this community so I won't link directly to his blog, but he feels similarly about the 20/20 spot as a lot of you did - They expressed to him that the show was going to be about orthorexia but he was disappointed to see that it was transformed into this raw-foodists-are-nutso story.
I don't know him well enough to tell you how he's doing at this very moment, but I know that he's had eating disorders for basically his entire life, and it seems as though going raw has really changed his connection to food - He does feel that he's orthorexic now, but I think that he sees it as an improvement over the damage that he was doing to his body before, with laxative abuse and binging/purging. There's no denying that it's obsessive, but his passion for raw foods is part of the reason that he's still alive right now, and I'll never see that as a bad thing.

I'd provided a link to his site in my blog post on orthorexia. So far, he only has a single entry, but he also made an 8 minute video with his initial reaction to the story.
Isn't the panda gorgeous? And yes it really is eating an apple.
I can't take credit for the picture though. It comes from Flickr and was taken by Swamibu.

C. B. Alien Worshipper I have an impersonator following me around pretending to be me. hope he won't give me a bad rap.
I love apples too! I made a "killer-Raw-Apple-Pie" last week, with different kind of apples in it. It was so good I can't stop thinking about it. The panda-bear in the pic is soooo cute! Did you take the picture yourself?
