Give it to me Raw

I have just two words to describe McCain/Palin: IRRESPONSIBLE and RECKLESS.
McCain was irresponsible and reckless nominating Palin, who he doesn't even know and who has no real experience and Palin was reckless and irresponsible for accepting the nomination for a position she's not remotely qualified for. America First? Uh-huh.

The text below is courtesy of the folks at Comedy Central. It's funny and telling at the same time.
Now, on to the funny stuff!

*"Nuclear" did not appear in the text the RNC released of her speech, but astute listener Tom Music says otherwise. We'll go to the video tape when it's available...

UPDATE: The reason I was unable to find the word "nuclear" in the text the RNC released is because they did not spell it correctly. They spelled it phonetically:

Starting in January, in a McCain-Palin administration, we're going to lay more pipelines ... build more new-clear plants... create jobs with clean coal... and move forward on solar, wind, geothermal, and other alternative sources.

And later:

Terrorist states are seeking new-clear weapons without delay ... he wants to meet them without preconditions.

"New" and "clear" certainly have more pleasant connotations than "nuclear."

I wonder if Carl Rove forced the daughter and boyfriend to get married? Imagine the shit storm if they didn't make the wedding plans.....

Poor girl. The divorce statistics for marrying that young are dismal.

This speach was gross. It is pandering to a very unintelligent group. The low blows alone made it bad, but couple that with her tone - its like she is reading to children. Bad. Real bad.

The left right paradigm is in full swing. This is becoming American Idol - presidential edition it seems.

Grandpa John will read us a nice story tonight - I can't wait...

How about the police state in MN? Scary stuff indeed.

Hmm, so we're just supposed to trust that corporations are going to always do what's in the best interest of the public's health and safety?
Government can serve a positive role if responsible, good people are in office. I don't buy this argument that any sort of government regulation equals fascism. That's just silly, it's not that black & white.
Sarah Palin is a faux populist bridge of batshit bricks to the 19th century. She thinks creation & abstinence only should be taught in all public schools & doesn't even believe in climate change...

i personally don't trust the politicians - i trust the people who are going out there busting their asses to try and change the world by actually getting out there and doing things like saving forests and promoting healthy alternatives. and most importantly, i trust myself because that is the only one i can change.

think of it from a raw food perspective - the earth is a living organism with complex systems. all the toxins and pollutants clog up the works, and things start to malfunction and shift out of balance. this manifests in many ways - bee colony collapse (which we really need to pollinate some of our raw food sources), shifting weather patterns, less snow on mountaintops which means less fresh water to drink, collapse of ice shelves like buddha posted, etc.
whether you believe in global warming or not, i think it is important to look at the harm that is being done and throwing life out of balance and do all that one can to correct that. we all are connected, so any negative things we do have consequences for everyone and vice versa. i agree with suvine about not trusting the politicians, but i also think our infrastructure can be changed to put the power back in our hands and use the government to work for us and it is up to us to not give it power over us.

There's a hidden history to corporations that no one really knows about. One, is that they used to be incorporated by "charters" with the community's permission, dating back to the 1830's. And two, that the Supreme Court in 1886 in Santa Clara County vs. Southern Pacific Railroad decided that corporations were "persons" with the same Constitutional rights as individual citizens.

The Supreme Court .... the "benign" entity coupled with the other 2 branches that are supposed to look out for the people.

It must be understood, and understood very, very quickly that one of the main principles of government is that it cannot be controlled. When you, as a citizen authorize that which cannot be controlled to have full control of items that you may not like on day 1 (ie- regulations), means that by day 2, government will enact controlling mechanisms against you, or even against things that you do happen to like. Almond pasteurization and irradiation of greens, anyone?

Supporting individual liberty is rejecting the notion that power over the individual exists in a free society. The power a corporation beholds is one that demands you buy their products. You have the choice not to. However, when corporations use the government funds to subsidize the meat industry, for example, you have beef and chicken selling for $3.21 per pound. Without the $500+ million government subsidy, meat would probably cost about $43.00 per pound.

Is anyone willing to let the market decide this little battle between vegetables and meat without the government's interference? With vegetables and meat competing at real prices in the market, which one do you think that people would choose? Or should we ask the government to save us from more problems that they increasingly seem to create?

Anyone out there who prefers less choice?

Don't look now, but I think SUVINE and I tend to agree on this one ;-)

Ian
