every time i eat a salad, i'm hungry less than an hour later. i've tried adding some fats in the form of nuts, seeds, olive oil, or avocados. i've tried making the salads larger. i've switched up the greens. i've tried different dressings. nothing works.
do you have or have had the same problem? what should i do? will it go away as i eat raw more often (right now i waver between 70-90%, depending on the day)? is there something i can add to the salads that i haven't thought of yet?
the less you eat the less you need. is there a certain time of the day when you are hungry more. such as if it is in the a.m. eat 4-6 fruits or lots of h20. if you are going back and forth between cooked and raw it is so much harder than to just do it all 100%. reason for me was i no longer have the craving and hunger for those types of food after a few days. i realized how wonderful i fell and how much better my life is without cooked food. cooked food just made me hungry all the time...because it was all lacking in nutrition.

Adding lots of fat should help. I would put AT LEAST one whole avocado in my salad, and some oil in the dressing, and lots of olives, and walnuts/hempseeds, and tahini+honey, etc. Fat can really help you feel satisfied, good raw organic fats.
Thanks to Victoria Boutenko, I no longer starve when raw. There is just something about a fruit smoothie with a few handfuls of greens in it that keeps me satisfied for HOURS. It must be as she said, that we just don't really digest greens (and all those satisfying minerals and vitamins our bodies are crying for when we get hunger pangs) when we eat them as a salad. But take those same greens and BLEND them, and our bodies suck in the nutrition greedily, and can give us a break from feeling hungry.
"I'm still hungry." That's my mantra. It doesn't seem to matter how big I make my salads, or how many seeds and nuts I put on them. I still want more food.
My solution? I just keep eating. I'm hoping that I'll be less and less hungry as time passes (but, at the moment, I'm trying to gain weight so I'm trying to listen to my body when it says it wants food).
Yep, I agree with the suggestions of:
1) Add more food....preferably things with fiber like fruits and veggies. Make your salads with lots of chopped veggies more so than lettuce (a huge bowl of things like chopped zucchini, beets, carrots, sprouts, red bell peppers, celery, or cabbage).** I wouldn't jump to adding a bunch of fat...some yes, but don't just resort to that. Add fiber filled foods like I mentioned above.
2) Eat 1-2 apples or bananas before a meal.
3) If hungry, eat more.
4) Drink a green smoothie made of your absolute favorite ingredients (greens, fruits, vanilla bean, carob, super foods, goji berries - whatever you love love love). If you're still hungry after this, follow the smoothie up with a few olives or dates.
5) It's said the Raw cacao nibs / Raw chocolate can act as an appetite suppressant, so add that to your smoothies :)
this is one of the best list of suggestions for this question that i've seen kristen, very realistic and inspiring in an incredibly simple way. absolute favourite ingredients in green smoothies is key i think, so you don't feel like you're choking it down or not enjoying your food. . . which is the whole point of eating this wonderful way!!
xx. . . you're an early riser too i see!
