I'd like to do a water fast for maybe a day or so, but have never done one. Can anyone tell me how to prep for it and how much I should drink or should I just wake up and start drinking water? Thanks!
I'm currently doing my second water fast. First time I did 72 hours. This time I'm just doing a 30 hour fast.
Make sure to have water on you at all times and just drink when you're thirsty.
I find it a good idea to drink water that's around room temperature.
When you finish the fast, make sure to not eat too much food all at once. Start simple with just a half a serving of fruit. Then wait and see how you feel.

What do you want to do a waterfast for? Most people can do a fast for one day, without any problems whatsoever. Eat fruit the day before, and break on juicy fruits like watermelon or another form of melon. drink lots of water and rest. Dont go working, or doing loads of exercise or cleaning.
There is no real therapeutic benefits can be had in one day of fasting though, as your body sint even technically into fasting mode, biochemically. You need to fast a minimum of 3 to get any other benefits than giving your digestive system a short break. It takes approximately 3 days for the body to begin fasting mode fully. Fasting longer than 3 days is not recommended without professional hygienic supervision. Fasting at all is not recommended if you have problems or with diabetes, liver or kidney disease, or if you are on certain medications.

I don't think this exists for humans yet, unfortunately - but what I think would be the healthiest mattress (and virtually free of dust-mites, even bed-bugs which inflict some homes recently) for humans would be the same as the healthiest for pets...
