What type of filtration system do you use for your water?...do you have one both on your sink and shower? What do you recommend? ...is Brita really any good?
We have a filter that removes almost all nasties on our kitchen cold water supply, and that is then passed through an ioniser to deliver both acid and alkaline water. I'm at work and can't remember the name of the filter manufacturer at the moment but I can check if you like when I get home.
We also have a chlorine filter on the shower which was a piece of cake to fit, and boy has it made a difference to my skin and hair - far less dry than before.
We have a Reverse Osmosis filter for cold water. It's a bit pricey ($168), but after years of trying different filtration systems it's the best we've found. DH even uses it to replenish the water in our aquariums. He got it at Lowes, and installed it himself. He's a computer geek, not a plumber so it can't be too hard to install.
We also have a chlorine filter in the shower. We have REALLY HARD water and it makes a big difference.
