Soups! (or non-green vegetable smoothies :-) )

Anyone have any soup recipes? My old thread was resurfaced and got me thinking about soup again. To be honest, I hated sprouted lentils. It was good when I had it, but I'd much rather not re-do that soup idea again.
I also have been looking over recipes in Gabriel Cousens Conscious Eating book. It had me thinking up combinations I could make.
Fiddling around in the kitchen tonight, I made an awesome Indian-style blended soup.
It tastes amazing and it will be wonderful paired with a salad that includes cilantro and sea vegetables. :-)

Ingredients:
soaked almonds (w/ cinnamon, nutmeg, a pinch of salt and a date)
one carrot
Ginger/Mint water (sun tea from the other day)
Spices (Cumin, Cayenne, Curry Powder, Turmeric, Black Pepper)

Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Have a wonderful day!!

I'm just admiring this beautiful beta-carotene anticipating tomorrow's lunch! :-)
I thought about blending a sun-dried tomato with it but I didn't have one soaking. Maybe next time.

Awesome! Soup is good stuff. I'm trying to come up with some combinations. Somehow, I can't get tomato soup right... :-( It just tastes weird.. I don't know

Nope, I don't use a Vita-Mix. I just use this awesome all glass/metal machine. It works AWESOME. Compared to my old blender at least.

mmm i made a soup yesterday with just 1 carrot, 1 celery stalk, 1 red pepper, and 1 avocado. no spices and it was shockingly amazing. i tend to put cumin, coriander, and curry in everything but this was soo good on its own. i love when my tastes get simpler!

Nice! It sounds like a good combination. I put avocado in the blender for the first time. WOW! Does it make things super creamy?! lol

hi!!!
i just woke up last morning very late with a cold and fever! something which am experiencing after a year !!! i still cant figure out why this happened!
anyways so i had this most incredible craving for cooked warm veggie stew... just cant explain how bad it was. may be such illnesses make you look out for comfort eating that stays as stored memory and sensual association with your body!
so anyways i just remembered your almond and spices recipie over the top of my head and just whipped them in the blender. it tasted just fine and all cravings gone! i do better with very low turmeric as it tastes very strong on raw!i didnt have any dates though! i dont like them.

thank you!!!

hmmmmmm... i haven't tried it as a SoUp yet, but one of my favorite juices ever is:::>

celery
cucumber
red bell pepper
a handful of spinach
parsley (just a few sprigs~ it gets strange and clumpy if you add too much to a juice)
tomato (which adds a bit of thickness)

mmmmm! & i'm thinking with an avocado tossed in there that would make a lovely 'gazpacho-merry' type soup!!

Hi, my base soup is always this

1-2 tomatoes
1/2 red or yellow bell pepper
1 clove garlic
1/2 zucchini
1/8 tsp turmeric
1/4 tsp cumin
knob ginger
1 tablespoon salad dressing or 1 tsp coconut oil
dash sea salt

Additional
handful spinach
alfalfa
butternut squash

Enjoy

this may sound like a dumb question: but are these soups eaten cold? how do you prepare them, through a food processor or blender? do you warm it up a lil?

Reply to This

I put mine in a blender.
They can be warmed either by the stove, but no warm than you can stand to put your finger in (presumably less than 118*) or you can put it in a jar and place it in the sun for some hours.
I warmed mine by the sun. Or I just leave it at room temperature for awhile.

i'm trying to be a raw foodist. Its difficult for me because I tend to wait until I'm hungry to eat. You all seem to prepare your food WAAAAY ahead of time. I just don't see myself doing that, lol

Agreed! When I'm out with people. I hop over to the natural food store for mangoes while they are eating without being satiated at the fast food joint.
On my way home from work, I take the long bike ride home so I can stop by my local pear tree! :-)

Fruit is the answer! :-)

You're suppose to be able to pick the leaf out of the middle - and it comes out realllllllll easy - if it's ripe. It should smell ripe too.

I decided to have a 50/50 raw/cooked meal at Vita last night, having had a desire for warm meals for last couple of weeks. They had a Vegan Paella, it was amazing but it's only the second time I have had grains for a year and I had headache soon a...

It's actually surprisingly easy once you get the hang of it. No machete required. Shave off the husk at the pointed top close to the shell. Then poke the point of a knife in about 2 or 3 cm out from the centre and wiggle it about until it pierces ...

Yes, I believe two out of the four pineapples I've had the last several months have been alright with me, after having let them "ripen" for some days. The one that turned out the best was one I stored in a bag of ripening bananas. I did the same t...
