What do you want from your RAW Food Cafe/Restaurant?
I am interested to know what people's perfect vision of a RAW Food outlet.
For example some serve coffee and alcohol some don't.
Do you prefer background music or not?
Would you prefer a self service salad bar?
How important is that cups and plates taken from the premises are bio degradable?
What would make your non RAW friends join you?
I have noticed that most outlets don't have RAW in their name. Does it put off non RAW foodists if RAW is in the name?
Anybody taken a non RAW foodist to a RAW food cafe/restaurant? What was your experience?
Any other observations welcomed.
PS A free RAW Pizza in our new restaurant for the best answer:o) 2nd prize 2 free Pizza's LOL
Oh damn! i just want anything in my area. any nice one indeed!!! kolkatans are such foodies!!! you open a junk shop and everybody is there!!! yukkkk
but what about raw food, when there are abundant fresh produce around???!!!
sad but true we have no raw restaurant here! just none!!!
if there were any in my city i would really like dehydrated stuff for the occasional treat due to the absence of a dehydrator in my place, exotic fresh juices and salads. and of course cacao based and other interesting desserts for the occasional treat. nothing too complicated. at least there ought to be simpler options and the take-home system for those urgent rushed days or special occssion!!and yes, i would expect it to store some facilities for selling dry stuff, herbs, berries, whatever!! i would also expect raw spaghetti and ice creams. (uh, what a dream!)
nice!!! but all we have for now are a few juice bars and yeah, places where you have sprout based salads, where, if you are careful, you can get your combo done raw!!!
and yeah, so i would defintiely like to go to a place with self-serving salad bar, clean, raw and green atomosphere. smoke free, booze free,... shizz!!! they stink so much.
sun tea, or tea for some. and yeah coffee for the non-raw foodists maybe! but obviously, "gourmet" or "avant garde" would have a better place in the title cuz am sure many non-rawfoodists would get turned off otherwise! yeah, am sure some solid great pizza or dessert work will do the trick to get my non-rawfoodist friends in. most people i know are foodies, so they would succum to the gourmet treatment without feeling pushed! (wink, wink) And obviously many would get intimidated by too much green in salad or green juices, (sigh!) but if they get trust with other things, they are sure gonna try! for this there should be a menu plan that makes the raw versions of Indian, Thai, Mediterannean (and so on) etc, food.
the trick of the place should be to attract more of the non-raw people slowly, so there should be some special "trade secret" raw compositions that would be emulating some popular non-raw stuff.
I remember a famous pizzeria in my city having an independent salad serving facility. that was the only thing i could enjoy there some couple of years back. it was a raw salad bar, yes!sadly some change of administrators removed that thing!!!! can you believe it!!! but i know that everybody had plate high stuff from there, ... and yes, everybody! the administrators' point was they were making great losses with a buffet salad, cuz people were taking all they could! haha! can you imagine.
but now i cant even go anywhere for a meal! :((((
but the point is, if there ever was a "gourmet cuisine" place here, they would still sell like hot "cakes" and no-one would even notice that these are raw cakes. Kolkata, or any of the metros of India, are just too good for having a food-related business. :)
I think a restaurant that incorporates some raw, some vegetarian and some vegan would appeal to a broader group of people. I love when places have music on as long as it's not so loud that you can't carry on a conversation..(Bob Marley, Jack Johnson, etc..)I think it would be nice to serve coffee, tea and alcohol. I would include biodegradable dishes for to go items. I would definitely have fresh flowers on the table. I probably wouldn't choose a name with raw in the title as most people have a real aversion to that word..I would have some simple clean raw meals and some gourmet one, for the raw portion and carry that through with the vegetarian and vegan meals. I would like there to be fun lectures, on certain times of the month as well as some live music/dancing. I would have a sign in there stating "Please refrain from dramatizing on the premises"..Just my two cents though, as I can't stand highly enlightened dramatizers.
That would make me a Cleverrus Dickus then I suppose.
No decision yet but the New life theme looks good. The celtic language is Gaelic but I'm sorry I have no idea what new life is. Not that much of a Cleverrus Dickus then am I?
Shawana, where was the grand opening of Columbus? Is it a new place, does it have a website?
The name thing is difficult, so many great ideas there....so far we have some favorites of;
1. San Pyro = Without Fire
2. Salveo = to be well, be in good health
3. San Estus = Without heat
4. Vida Nova = New Life
5. La Vida Nova = The New Life
6. Nova Vida = New Life (Portuguese)
7. Nettle = Nettle
Any more names are also welcome, I think what we should do is create a small poll. Does anyone know how to create an online poll or a good website that we can create a free poll to get a general feel from the public?
Nettle – I think the thing with the Celtic names is great, but again because it will be franchised we want to keep the name catchy and meaningful, but still mystical. Latin and Hispanic names are exotic and people can relate to them easily. Anyway never say never, something else might pop up.
I want one in New Hope, PA where I spend a lot of time. It can have coffee and stuff. Self service salad bar would be a big plus. Oh, and live music would be cool too.
Me walking between China and Dragon as I get ready to turn them out into a big pasture. They're my buds, they stay real close to me, one on each side, whenever I got out to where they are. It is very sweet! :)
It sounds like you are not eating enough fruit. If you eat more sweet fruit, your desire for candy and other processed foods that are sweet will go away.
