Give it to me Raw

Hi everyone!

I have been on a predominantly high raw food diet since September last year yet I have recently been diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. However, previous to this and still now, i'm yet to see and feel any improvements in my health since going raw. I know that many people experience lots of positive improvements when going raw yet this has not been the case with me. Does anyone have any useful information they may be able to pass onto me to help me in my recovery?

you may have had CFS for years. It usually takes a while for doctors to notice, and when they notice it takes a while to give you the diagnosis.

I have CFS myself, and I'm convinced a raw diet is the best thing for us. Though I'm transisioning slowly from a "normal" norwegan diet.

Hi Francine- I totally understand how you feel. I don't have CFS, but I have adrenal fatigue and a type of hypothyroid, which can make me very fatigued. That's why I went raw 3 mos. ago.
I didn't see a big improvement at first and I ended up going to see an acupuncturist. That's when I started to see some progress. My acupuncturist told me I had a deep energetic deficiency that would take some time to heal. Sometimes you need more than diet alone.

So, acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and tweaking my raw diet according to the Chinese food cures book "Healing With Whole Foods" by Paul Pitchford , have been really helpful.

Doing Qigong (which is like tai chi) always brings an immediate energy boost- I use the dvd's by Francesco and Daisy Lee Garripoli.

Some other books I found to be helpful were:
"Adrenal Fatigue" by James Wilson
http://www.adrenalfatigue.org/

"Positive Energy" by Judith Orloff" - this deals more with energy fields and how the get depleted by people and our surroundings.

Since CFS often can involve the adrenals and/or thyroid, here's a symptom chart:

People with adrenal fatigue usually have low blood pressure. Hypothyroid often isn't picked up on blood tests, but can cause a low morning basal temperature.

Hey,

Sorry to hear you're not doing so good. Im not sure about the Atomic Fire Mark, CFS is a little more than mitochondrial challenge. How long was the waterfast Cazore? When I went to do my waterfast there were a few people who had CFS who fasted around 30 days each and all had a complete turnaround and are doing well 18 months on. Everyone is different though. The lightning process sounds interesting, will bookmark that.

I also know lots of people who have used Qigong successfully with ME/CFS, although to be honest it does take some time to get full recovery. Ie years, though immediate benefits are noticed when practised daily.

I think the important things are to identify what areas of your personal life are causing you stress and do what you can to remove those stressors.

Dietarily you would do well to avoid all juices, syrups and other fibreless sugars. The lack of fibre causes massive insulin spikes which requires excessive adrenaline production because the body recognises an emergency state. Also dried fruits are not a good idea as the lack of water concentrates th sugars which can cause adrenal stress for the same reason. Use nutridiary.com to record your daily intake of foods. You need to make sure firstly that you're eating enough. Undereating on calories causes the body to produce large amounts of adrenaline and cortisol to compensate for the blood sugar dips to keep you going. This also requires sufficient fuel to recover from. Make sure you're eating regularly too. You dont want blood sugar dips where you're stimulating the adrenals too much to compensate. Using nutridiary will also help you to see whether youre eating high fat and high sugar diets.

Fats stay around in the blood stream anywhere upto 24 hours depending on how much was consumed. The fat can block insulin receptors on cells and prevent sugar being transported by insulin into the cells for fuel. This can cause blood sugar levels to rise, causing an increased demand for insulin as the body tries desperately to reduce dangerously high blood sugar levels, which taxes both the pancreas as well as the adrenal glands. Try to keep fat levels lower than 15% ideally around 10%, as they take a lot more time and energy to digest which will tax your adrenals in itself, never mind the blood sugar issues.

thats about all I can suggest at the moment. Beware of so called adrenal herbs, tonics and supplements (which often contain herbs) which might raise energy levels in the short term but often long term will only prevent healing and prolong the problem.

That was very true for me. My job ended up being one of the main culprits, along with years of getting to bed too late. If it is an adrenal thing, it's so important to be in bed by ten, otherwise, you get a second wind, which is really a cortisol surge that further depletes your adrenals.

As for herbs, seeing someone who practices Chinese medicine is good, because you'll be using herbs that support your particular state. An herb might be great for one person and cause further imbalances for another.

Thats a good point, sleep. How did I forget that one. Sleep sleep sleep. If you're too stressed in the day you'll spend too much time in REM sleep at night, which uses up adrenal energy rather than provides it. When you reduce stressors in daily life and get an early night with lots of sleep you can spend more time in the rejuvenative stages of sleep.

I'm experiencing fatigue but I'm just starting out so I'm pretty sure its just part of my detox.

I'm not sure what is causing it for you. When you ate a SAD diet, what foods would make you feel most energized?

Wow! I am totally overwhelmed by the response that I have received from my post. This is the first time that I have used one of these forums before as suggested by a kind soul, Steph. Thank you so much for all of your suggestions. I shall respond to some of the questions asked asap. Please, please, please keep passing on your info and ideas!

Blessings to you all!

Wow, sounds like you had a majorly intense experience. A couple of people on my fast were like that too. What was your diet like before/after you stopped the fast? So has the lightning process completely worked for you then?

in terms of your spiritual development, chronic fatigue can be common for those in transition in their self realization process.

this can "show up" as medically diagnosed...meaning that YES "this" and "that" will be happening or is depleted or ... IS going on > but these symptoms resulting in cfs can be a result of transformation.

follow your inner guidance and you will be guided as to what to do, what to eat, who to listen to for necessary healing advice etc.

follow your BLISS and BE in LOVE with yourself/your life...

here's a lovely prayer for you on your journey ...

~ AL-ILAH RAPHA ~ < GOD OF HEALING > Ancient expression for the intervention of the Divine Powers that all humanity requires to live and breathe.

"Most precious and exalted Lord who Heals, Al-ilah Rapha, examine my body and physical nature with Thy penetrating and healing power.

May Thou Heal us from all sicknesses and sufferings and bring a restoration of health in body and spirit to those I pray for at this hour, especially for those in a time of transition.

Amen"

Might be worth it to make sure you aren't missing any nutrients such as magnesium, chromium, and B12, whose deficiencies can cause fatigue.
