If you have not noticed, all Durianriders posts have been deleted from this forum. What do people think about this??
I really enjoyed reading his experienced advice...I know Durian rider personally, and I know he is walking his talk. He has a huge heart and is constantly contributing and helping others whether its by internet, phone, or in person. His approach my be extreme to some, but never boring!
I know from hearing Harley speak to people on the streets about their health problems, he isn't afraid to tell them what he thinks is going to help them. He can be very direct and maybe some people take things too personal?
However, I don't know all the details. I think it's one thing to post your opinion in different discussions, but deliberately going in to the meat eaters group and trying to ridecule them in to going vegan is not acceptable.
I think it's plain stupid to ban him. He's one of the few people out there who speak the truth and who aren't afraid to do it.
He's genuinely trying to help people who are having problems with the raw diet and health in general, and quite often people need frank talking to get the message. Tough love and all that.
I am priviliged to read his posts and advice as he's one of the few people out there genuinely thriving on raw and walking his talk. If you have a particular goal in life you want to achieve, the best way is to find someone who's already achieved it and do what they did.
Simply put, if everyone followed Harley's advice the world would be in a much better state. End of.
The truth? What exactly is the truth??? Show me the truth, I emplore you. I suppose there is nothing wrong with being extreme but have some tact about it. DR thinks that the 80/10/10 diet is the only truth... that's nothing more than a narrow, weak minded individuals way of thinking. If he said half the shit to me he said to others in this post I would smack the shit out of the guy then pay for him tuition to go to college.
I support Dru's efforts, and decisions. If DR can pull his head out of his rectum and stop preaching like James Jones he might have a chance at this forum again. Also, just because someone is a hard ass about the way they preach does not make them right, or educated for that matter, if you don't like, or anyone else for that matter, the decisions of Dru then you can leave as well, I'll support that as well.
Now can we all get back to the business of supporting eachother. I feel like I'm dealing with a buch of thumb sucking brats.
-Burke Bryant
Another pointed and blunt post, Mr. Bryant, and perhaps even much needed around these parts. I believe the "then you can leave as well" was excessive, but everything else was spot on.
DR is like any other demagogue, and I tend to treat him as such, and his preaching seems egocentric at best. If he had the choice of either truly helping someone or being presented with an opportunity to hear himself speak, I'd bet the Vegas stakes he would take the latter. But hey ... whatever makes up happy, no?
There are many success stories across the raw pantheon, and this may shock DR, but many of them have been successful without knowing who Dr. Graham is. My amazement is the story itself, not the narrow-minded lambasting of someone who didn't do it "right", exactly.
Without knowing the details, I say that sucks. I enjoyed DR's comments but unlike a few others apparently, I took them with a grain of salt. I know that DR is very smart and very passionate about his and others' health. Is that not what this forum is about? The guy basically just told people to eat fruit - whats wrong with that?
An open question to all. Why is there erasing and deleting going on everywhere? What happened to free speach and why would you give your OPINION about something (right or wrong) and then feel the need to delete later when you realize you lost an argument (or other weird reason I don't understand).... The ride of life is short, we eat raw food people-- meat or not-- we are supposed to be the enlightened ones....
Although I just started this forum, I will miss the truth from Durianrider.
As mentioned, I removed Durianrider from the site do to his actions in the raw meat group and fibro group. He is a great and contributing member, but I don't want anyone here who's goal is to spread the "truth" by picking a fight.
Also, as mentioned, I emailed Durianrider personally to talk about the situation (as I always do), and asked him to be a little more respectful of the other groups or just leave them alone.
We've had an email exchange and Durianrider has agreed to stay clear of certain groups.
We'll be removing the ban later today. He obviously has a lot of friends and is a very knowledgeable person. I want him to be here and share as long as he understands where I'm coming from.
I don't compare cases. I just look at them all one by one. If you are having challenges with other members, you can always email me at dhrumil [at] welikeitraw [dot] com
I wasn't going to join in on this, but I feel compelled.
Yes, durianrider is knowledgeable about certain things, but I have often felt that he is one of the most judgemental posters here. If you don't adhere to the specific way HE approaches raw, well then, you may as well be stuffing yourself full of fried chicken and mashed potatoes. True, I don't know him personally, but the way he comes across leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Don't mistake me, I don't have anything against him as a person. I get that he is enthusiastic about the way he lives his life, that's great, but I feel that he forces his opinion instead of giving it, if that makes sense. I just hope that he respects others' approaches to raw, in the future, instead of thinking that his way is the only way.
I guess we'll see.....
I think one of the most interesting things about durianrider stirring things up is the way other people react to it. If you really don't care for him, his truth, his aproach - then why do people even bother to read it and discuss with him?
I mean, seriously, if you have come to find that primal stuff or low fruit intake works better for you and he does not want to listen to it...then why waste the energy?
Look, I do NOT want to argue, and I hate that just by replying to this, I'm bumping this thread up again.
Even if I didn't reply to any of the offending posts, that doesn't mean that they didn't anger me. I just don't engage. But others do, and that's their prerogative to defend their beliefs. For some, it's hard to ignore blatant bullying, and frankly, I applaud standing up to injustice. Like I said, I just don't have the energy for that. I don't necessarily feel that some of those who reply to durianrider's posts are even replying to him, they may be responding so that people get more than one side to the story. I don't know, but that's a possibility.
I get what you're saying Marte, but it's hard to let some things fly sometimes, and some things you just can't ignore, you know?
I just hope this whole thing dies, durianrider finds a better way to interact, and we can move on....
