Can those of you who are 811rv please tell me what you eat on a regular day? From waking up til bed time.....give me the scoop because I can't wrap my brain around it.
I do believe very strongly in the importance of chewing. Not to get to philosophical here, but I am not "anti" anything, I am "pro" stuff, lol
I approach each and every day with a desire to live in harmony with Natures's design in as many ways as possible. Chewing our food is a major part of our design. 80/10/10 really describes our biological design, Dr. D just put some numbers on it, based on the research which has been done by other people.
I guess I am also showing how my belief system differs from Victoria Boutenko and all this non sense about the need for blending.
I certainly will use a blender in the future, I just haven't had the desire to do so recently.
I agree but at the same time it is something I don't want to hear, as I rely on the blender for 2 out of 3 meals/day. It's just so easy to get the greens in this way. Maybe too easy.
You bring up a very important point. The most under emphasized component of 80/10/10 is the amount of greens that Dr. D is recommending. He is recommending more greens than any other nutritional program on the planet! 2-6% of calories from greens is a lot of greens.
I have no idea what you do, but generally, most people who are making green smoothies are fooling themselves thinking they can get enough greens from those smoothies. Also, the process of THOROUGHLY chewing greens is Natures way to brush our teeth. Chewing is important, but I would say chewing greens is even more important than the process of chewing our fruit.
My first year of raw was high fat raw. I wasn't an athlete either. (besides being a mom of two)
After a couple of months of 8-1-1, I began to get more active. I found myself wanting to push my body and explore my limits. Now I'm not saying that I'm a gold medal Olympic pursuant, but I'm definitely an athlete! And I would be willing to bet, that you will discover the same about yourself after following 8-1-1!
this past week:
I eat about 100 bananas a week(a good cheap staple)
lots of homegrown tomatoes
about 5 watermelons
4 pineapples
about a cup of dates
a couple stalks of celery
about four apples
a cantaloupe
a melon
and lots of water
Ok Darrick! You can stop rubbing it in now!!
Just kidding! Sorta. I sure do miss that one and only creamy texture, with its oh sooooo distinct yummyness!
Ahhh, how I love posts such as these. I have been putting off buying this book too because it is so expensive, but I feel in order to properly understand this diet I need to buy it. I have been doing a modified version of this for a while now and honestly I feel better than I have in my entire life. I hate to admit this because I looooooveee nuts. Before going raw I could eat a pound of nuts a day with no problem. The only thing that probably kept me from weighing 300 pounds was my running and even then I was not as active as I am now. However, I after reading this I have figured out why it has a pain in the tush to stick to this diet - I am obviously NOT eating enough in one meal. I'll eat like two bananas and a green smoothie for breakfast and half the green smoothie goes to my boyfriend. no wonder i am hungry half an hour later! thanks for all the info guys! this makes so much sense now!
I like to do fasts as well and I think the power in fasting is that its a remedial action, one part of the process of purifiying. For instance if you feel you have a lot of non-virtuous residue or spiritual obstacles to remove, you generate regret...
Loren,
Was your fast that regained your health a supervised one, and with whom? How long was your fast? What did you eat like before that?
Do you mind me asking what health challenges you were experiencing?
Who did you intern under yourself? I ...
A group for people who are still transitioning, just learned about raw, or are struggling at all and want to help each other out with tips, support, questions and answers.
don't agree with the whole raw food creating a damp environment thing because of the wildly different effects of different raw foods. i've found candida to respond to 100% raw, several different approaches.
