Give it to me Raw

Because of a great thread on GoneRaw, I collected and drank my first rain water yesterday. Since most bottled water and all tap water has been heated, this is most likely the first time I drank raw water. I can't believe I have not been doing this. I live in the UK and hate buying water and it falls from the sky for free (a lot). Why didn't I think of this before. It was really nice tasting, fresh and heavy! I only put an old bin out in the back gaden and in a few hours, I had quite a good amount. I am going to buy one or two large wash tubs and get serious now!

Anyone else doing this?

They make us pay for the land but no man owns the sky.
Don't let the FDA here about this. Soon enough their going to be charging us for rain.

Not using rain water really is a wasted opportunity here in the UK, lol! I really want to give this a try - I live in South East Devon, so hopefully the rain will be fairly clean here. I didn't manage to find the thread on Gone Raw, could you post the link, Chris? Thanks for starting this great discussion! :oD

Hey great idea, but didn't the rain get heated to get it up there in the first place?

hmmm?

Well, I wondered what temperature is required to get water vapour to go into the atmosphere where it condenses as clouds...

I doubt there is any such thing as "raw water". At some point, a water molecule would have been heated. But since there aren't any enzymes in pure water, I don't see much of a problem in having my water "cooked". As long as it's on the alkaline side, I'm good.

Personally, I wouldn't drink our rainwater. We have a lot of smog here. If it's been sunny for a while, you can see the pollution stuck around the mountains like a brown blanket. After it rains, the air is clear and clean. It would seem that the rain takes in the pollution as it falls.

But if you're in a location where you don't have that problem, go for it! It's a lot cheaper than bottled water.

This is really interesting, I think I'll try it. I live in Scotland so there's an abundance of rain here!

Hmm - interesting idea. But where exactly in the water treatment process is the water heated? Other than by the sun, anyway :-)

WRT flouride in water - some areas are naturally higher anyway (basically the harder the water, the higher the level of natural flouride). But in the UK the data on addition of flouride is available from your local water company (mine has its info via http://www.anglianwater.co.uk/index.php?sectionid=172&parentid=172 on a postcode finder)

I just checked out Scottish Water, apparently they don't add fluoride to water in Scotland.

The water is heated via solar thermal energy in a stainless steel vessel.

This process basically makes clouds in a controlled environment and then makes it rain. Again, in a controlled environment.

The water is called Solar Rain.

What an excellent idea - like all the best things, it's so simple I keep wondering why on earth I'd not thought about it before! Well done Chris! I'm looking forward to hearing how you get on - and I'll think about doing the same, down here in Brighton! Although if they go ahead with building that wretched incinerator along the coast, I may reconsider!

OK, I guess to me getting rid of anger and envy and fear in ones self before being able to externalize it on a corporate scale just seems common sense as opposed to religious. Is that really religious? Or is it just that he is a Yogi addressing th...

Rome was AWESOME, another fantastic HBO series. True Blood is also pretty cool, but I read the books so it's bittersweet for me. Did anyone else catch Carnivale? That was really well done as well.

For a sore throat I mix salt into warm water and gargle with it. Then a warm drink with honey (nut milk, tea). Be well.

Me walking between China and Dragon as I get ready to turn them out into a big pasture. They're my buds, they stay real close to me, one on each side, whenever I got out to where they are. It is very sweet! :)

It sounds like you are not eating enough fruit. If you eat more sweet fruit, your desire for candy and other processed foods that are sweet will go away.
