Hey everyone I am just wondering, what percent raw do you eat? If your 99-100% how did you get there? How did you fight the call of cheese, dough and meat and stay that way which seems to be my trouble...
I don't mean to be super sensitive, but do you really see cooked food at the same level as crack cocaine? I've seen you use the crack reference in several posts. Have you ever known anybody who was addicted to crack cocaine? Because if you have, I don't think you'd throw that around quite as freely as a comparison.
I don't have an opinion about the 811 lifestyle, since I've never read the book and haven't tried it. But cooked food vs. cocaine seems like a really out of whack comparison to me.
I think you're wrong, but maybe maybe my family is just super supportive.
I think my real sensitivity is the comparison between highly addictive street drugs that ruin people's lives and cooked food in general. If the comparison was between street drugs and the processed food industry, I might be able to square up with the comparison. But crack vs. cooked food? It just seems extreme to me. And that could be a factor in the mainstream viewing raw as extreme.
Maybe it's because I haven't read enough stories about people giving head in back alleys for a roasted red pepper or stealing from their mothers for some mashed potatoes. I'm sure the stories are out there somewhere on the Internet! I just haven't bumped into them yet! ;)
yes, funny but silly - if contraband was free instead of prohibited, the price would fall and everyone who wanted it would be able to afford it without the associated crime and all the big bucks the mafia makes from it
that would be interesting if they were first required to sign a waiver denying them the right to use public health care resources to recover from the damage they self inflict. LOL
el-bo, I completely agree about food addiction. I am a food addict. And certain foods are definitely triggers for me. It took me 40 days on raw food to even begin to know what those triggers were. I guess my point is that food addiction is food addiction, whether you're talking about the food being cooked or uncooked.
I would certainly classify food addiction in the same type of category with street drugs, and it's certainly easy to find and cheap to buy. I think it's the food addiction that needs to be dealt with, and not the addiction to cooked food, specifically.
The way I've dealt with my food addiction is to behave my way into a different relationship with food. And raw food to me was the easiest set of parameters to wrap my puny brain around. "Raw fruits, vegetables, seeds, and nuts." I could figure that out without having to count or measure or keep a food diary. And I learned to shrug it off and move on when I fell outside of those parameters.
I just watched the first season of Bored To Death with Jason Schwartzman. It's fantastic. It's about a writer who gets a side job as an unlicensed private detective by putting an ad on Craiglist. Best TV show this year.

Think more systematically. Instead of thinking of it meaning a problem like 'weak liver' it may mean, time to fast. Think of it as more like youre body is undergoing a load of eliminating stuff all at once. (and in this case perhaps, too fast(this...
Awesome U - Around 700 folk, at the beautiful Hilton Hotel ballroom, quite nice indeed. Like a big serious party, very light-hearted but very serious, i'd say mostly serious, especially the people presenting other than David. David carries on, his...
Thanks Loren. Makes sense to me. My problem is that when I blend (which means more volume of fruits) then i am more regular with my bowels. What I can eat & chew doesn't always trigger peristalsis in the same way. I had chemo a few years back and ...
You could try clay compresses - they work deep - because of the earth factor.
