Give it to me Raw

Hey all!
I'm trying to sprout some buckwheat groats...soaked them for about 30 minutes, put them in my sprouting bag, and have been rinsing them every 6 hours or so. Right now it's Day 2, and they don't really seem to be sprouting...it sort of looks like maaaybe they're about to, but there is definitely no obvious sign of a 'tail' or anything. I heard they're one of the fastest things to sprout, so I thought they would be ready by now...have any of you sprouted buckwheat, and if so, what were your results like?
Peace, Love, Lei.

Buckwheat Greens are Toxic
Soaked buckwheat groats are safe to eat, but the green leaves grown from them are not.
A list of some toxic raw foods is on my Raw Food Toxins page. There are other toxic raw foods, the page will grow as I gather more information.
Don't worry about the 20-minutes-to-spoil claim, it's not true. Soaked buckwheat exudes slippery mucilage. Maybe someone thought that meant it was spoiling, but it's actually a form of soluble fiber.
Buckwheat doesn't need to be sprouted before eating. It's enough to soak the buckwheat in water until it expands and gets softer. If you crush the dry buckwheat groats in a grain mill or food processor, they soak very quickly.
See my site RawVeg.info for info on using other raw grains, making muesli, porridge, oat yogurt, etc.

They sprout beautifully, but they need LOTS of rinsing whilst soaking to clear he goo!
Once they are all clean, they do better in jars than the bags in my experience - Once sprouted you can mix with sea weed flakes and eat raw or dehydrated as a munchie.
During the soak time I would rinse them several times, seems tedious, but so worth it. x

Nah, I had a mishap with some indigo I bought to dye my hair darker. It's washing out though, no biggie. Probably why I shouldn't mess around with hair dye, no matter how natural it is.

Ya I see what you're saying. I think spirituality and raw food, in my opinion have different levels. I think some people put too much emphasis on it being itself a spiritual practice, so I'm arguing the point that down plays it, not to obsess abou...
