Give it to me Raw

Rawk and Roll Princess

My Dad has cancer what is the best way to help him get into raw food???

My Dad has a terminal cancer called a pulmonary artery sarcoma he is 54 and was healthy and happy and young for his age before this happened. He was diagnosed a year and a half ago with 6 months to live. He has already given up all sugar because he read all this stuff about how sugar helps tumors grow. He has always been a healthy guy and fairly conscious of what he eats and I think if he gave it a chance raw food would really help him regain some stregth and energy to fight his cancer. He is sooo sick from the chemo and is going to keep doing it (so please don't suggest that he stop). All he has been able to keep down is macaroni and cheese and one of my biggest concerns is that detoxing and his nausea would prevent him from wanting to make the switch.

I know there are a lot of people who have cured their cancer with raw food and I was wondering if anyone had started raw while really sick from chemo, what did they eat???
And how do I bring up the subject in the best way possible to help him see all that raw food could do for him??

Please send some good thoughts and positive vibrations my Dad's way if you can and keep in your heart for me.

Hi Lizzy,

I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad :(

I've never had cancer or been on chemo, so I can't talk about that part.

But as far as bringing up the subject, I'd just say, carefully and with as little pressure as you can possibly do it. Are you on a raw food diet and does he know about it? If so, you might share with him very positively and gently how it has helped you.

I would be careful not to come across as nagging at any point, because that is a sure way (in my experience) to turn someone off of changing their lifestyle.

I do have a very good article about cancer and raw foods if you're interested. I have it on my computer though and I'd have to email it to you as an attachment. If you'd like it, email me at goingbananasblog at gmail dot com

(((hugs))) and keep us all updated on your Dad!

Um it's not exactly lung cancer, which is why it is so rare, it actually starts in your artery but the first place it spreads to is your lungs. What do herbalist do?? I mean I can take a guess based on the name, but could you tell me more? Thanks so much!

Make him read The China Study!!!!!!!!

I so agree! When my mother got breast cancer I had just finished The China Study and passed it straight onto her. She made changes straight away. She's not high raw (although eats a salad with each meal) but the vegan diet has helped with all her other health issues. Fortunately she didn't have to have radiation or chemo so I can't comment on that.

It seems to me one of the most important functions of GI2MR is to offer help to people who really need it. There are many threads on this forum with more than 100 replies. I am sure if started a thread stating I got a pimple on my left knee when I eat blueberries I could easily get 100 replies and here is this poor girl whos´ father has cancer and she gets 3 replies. Come on guys you can do better than that. I would like to offer more advice but I don´t think I am qualified to do so. I know there a few of you out there who have direct experience in this matter so let´s hear from you. Thanking you in advance.

Hello Lizzy,

where to begin, first my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your father. You said that he is cutting out all sugars which is a great thing but compounding that by eating macaroni and cheese
which still has sugars in it even though that in itself is thought to be a salt and starch food.
I would get him on green juices and sprouts. Doing green juices four times a day would be beneficial to him as far as nutrition and cleansing goes. The toxic affects of the chemo alone is deadly, and please don't feed him fruits. The sugars in there also feed the cancers. However,i will keep up with you as he is not going to stop that type of treatment. Have you ever heard of liquid zeolite?? Also known as Natural Cellular Defense. (NCD). In the healing community there is much talk about the healing properties of the zeolite structure. If you care to email me on here i can send you more information that would be too lengthy to get into on this forum. But going back to green juices i would say that 80% of the green juice would be cucumber and celery along with dark leafy greens such as Kale and Spinach. Throwing in some Cilantro or Parsley is also a great thing. You may also want to consider that if he can keep food down that sprouts are a wonderful healer as well, sunflower is a nice sprout to eat and the flavor is pleasant. you could make your father some rollups using raw nori sheets and hemp oil some sea salt and sunflower sprouts and avocado and sprinkle that with spirulina. It makes for a great meal, snack or even in bites it is all delicious and nutritious and healing.
The Agaricus Belaize mushroom along with Reishi, Maitake, Cordyceps, Shitake are all healers in the mycilium world. The healing affects alone with these are miraculous. They help boost the immune system. That in conjunction with the NCD zeolite modality will give your father some positive results.
A good book to get for ideas for helping your father with eating raw foods is Dr Gabriel Cousens "Rainbow Green Live Food Cuisine" I would read the book and check out the Phase I recipes. Your father also will need to know that he is turning a new page in his life and cannot for the life of him...go back to the old ways of eating. His life depends on it. More and more these days as time goes by
we are all affected one way or another...whether personally or through a family member or a friend or their family is getting sick....and i mean really sick. We live in a highly toxic world. More so than when we were younger or when our parents were our age and younger. So it is of utter importance to really be aware of the foods we eat. Thus most of us here going the route of being Raw. Feel free to call on me
at my profile page. Many blessings to you and your father. love and light!!

I'd agree about the green juices, celery, cucumber, bok or baby bok, ginger, apple, pear, cilantro (2 bunches), parsley, dark leafy (red chard etc) for him.

If you have some money, http://www.jingandco.com/.
Mineralization.

Sounds like your Father is looking for something to keep him stronger through his chemo...

Hi Lizzy! Im also very sorry about your father and send you and him and the rest of your family good healing vibrations..

In my opinion, the easiest and best way to get someone to really get deeply into their health and the whole raw food lifestyle is to book a week (or 2 or 3!) at one of the many amazing raw food - detox retreats around. Pitch it to them as a healing vacation and see if you can go with them, then you can share in the experience together, spend quality time together, and they can detox and learn about their health and what raw food can do for them that way.

That way they get an intensive knowledge and experience of the whole thing, and you get to share it with them, rather than try to educate them totally yourself about it. Generally, people become more open to try new things if they get out of their typical environment. Also, then your dad and you can talk to "experts" and other people who've healed from similar experiences, so you and your dad can have more resources at hand.

So I would say save yourself the immense time & effort and possible resistance he might put up, and just book one of these retreats together. Check out this list below & see if you & your dad can go to one of them for at least a week. I have only been to the OHI in San Diego (and am on my way to the Tree of Life tomorrow!) but Ive heard good things about them all:

Hippocrates Health Institute, W Palm Beach FL

Optimum Health Institute - San Diego & Austin, TX

Ann Wigmore Institute - Puerto Rico
www.annwigmore.org

The Ann Wigmore Foundation - San Fidel, NM

Creative Health Institute - Union City, MI

Living Foods Institute - Atlanta, GA

Best wishes Lizzie to you and your father! I'll keep you both in my prayers this week.. : )

Thanks so much, I'll see what I can convince him of!! Luckly he is close enough to san francisco, berekely (an amazing area to be raw in!!) where I think having so many resources close by will also be a big help.
