Was it your first day all raw? It sounds like you are detoxing, Miss Evie. Keep at it. :) This too shall pass.

Everyone is different. I am on my 20th day raw, and I still get a little cranky. I think if you get through a few days, it will clear up for you. How long have you been juicing for, and what are you eating now?

I ended up going to the hospital since I was violently ill. I ate at a famous place in Santa Monica (Juliano's) and got extremely sick. I have been juicing greens and apples, carrots, good stuff. I dont think it should be that harsh I eat almost raw anyway. Now I know it is dangerous to eat out RAW. I use to eat sushi all the time and never got sick like this.

Hmm, I think it is going to just eat steamed veggies, juices, fruit....seared fish. The dishes I ate may be the cause of it, my boyfriend had the same thing and did not get sick. I did.

Thanks you..

it may well have been something you ate in particular at the restaurant - can't say without knowing what you had. also some people find it hard to eat gourmet raw - there are often a number of high fat and more dense foods in gourmet, and if you indulged in a combination of these all at once, it could well have given your body a shock.

i don't think that means you should never eat out on raw foods .... just be aware what foods work for you, don't overeat and keep your choices as simple as possible.

hope you are feeling better today!

all I can say is, it probably had nothing to do with "raw" or not, it has everything to do with bacteria and employees not washing their hands etc. I had food poisoning once and let me just say, it is super duper awful.. once that bad bacteria gets in your gut you just have to throw up and go out the other end till it is done. don't eat, just sip ginger tea or water... wait it out. It took over a week for me to get better, it was just debilitating.
good health to you, don't blame it on the raw, I would tell Julianos though, they may need to tighten up their hygiene a notch..

I would definitely just take it easy for a few days. Detox is a monster, but this does sound a bit intense to me. Once you get the nastiness out of your system and if you feel more comfortable juicing, maybe take a step 'up' to eating smoothies and soups? If you are still feeling a bit nauseous, maybe a mono meal would help? When I'm not in the mood to do anything crazy, I make banana pudding. Or a strawberry smoothie. Mm. Watermelon is another good food to mono-meal.

I hope you are feeling better!

OR an allergy. (Not saying it is ... just another possibility that no one has mentioned.)

I can not eat raw bananas without getting violently ill and my sister gets heartburn if she eats raw broccoli or cauliflower. I won't go into the long story about allergies but maybe you should write down everything you ate the prior 24 hours and then pay attention in the future to what you eat and if you get sick again, check the foods against what you had the last time. There may be certain foods you can tolerate cooked (sorry to those who are die hard raw) that your body can not break down raw.

My problem with bananas for example ... the starches are turned to a more digestible sugar when cooked or let to over-rippen (I ate a very mushy over-ripe banana once to make sure this was what was happening for me. I can eat banana bread so well cooked it's also not a problem.) I spent a fair amount of time researching this because it's so painful and bananas are a great source of potassium. My sister and the broccoli I think has something to do with the fiber but I can't remember exactly.

I do like the Violent Femmes but I think that is too pessimistic. Nihilistic hard driving folk.
