Someone I know committed suicide at the weekend and it got me wondering. Is there something in the SAD diet that makes people do this. I just can't imagine a RAW foodist doing it. Is there any research out there linking diet to suicide/depression. This is 4th person I have known to take their own life. (And before Charles or anyone else gets in with jokes about it being because they knew me, they weren't that close for me to be to blame). How would you convince someone who was depressed to get RAW and avoid that outcome. Even if they did go RAW could anybody say 'Hey, that guy never committed suicide because he went RAW' because nobody really knew if they would have done it whether they were RAW or not. So if anyone has any information on the subject I would be delighted to hear from you.
I actually read there was a huge famous RAW Organic Vegan Restaurant in Hollywood during the 1940s and that it was VERY popular. There was also one in the 1980s on Melrose Ave too. In Arizona during the 1970s it was very popular, a friend of mine told me in hippie communes in Hawaii during the 1960s and 1970s their were Essene Groups that were literally 100% Raw living off the land what they planted, they only wore white clothing, my friend was one of them, but later he started his own Temping Agency in San Francisco then sold it for $50 Million and moved to Santa Monica in his Mansion! Just wanted to share some info...:)
Also in Europe RAW Organic has been around FOREVER nothing new there it has been around since 1930s and when you go to certain Spas in Europe they ask you questions then come up with RAW Organic Menu that suits your needs and description, there was a German Doctor that cured people of Diabetes TYPE I and he published a medical journal and book that was written during 1930s and 1940s I got to see and read the book it was pretty amazing!
But I sortof regulate it--if I get too depressed, I do some smoothies or more Barley max til I feel better, then its off again to ice cream and bagels! : (
Can't seem to stay motivated if I'm feeling a little better. Then there is the thing of when i feel really better and things get sticky at home, I think, 'well, what harm can a little cooked food or sweets do?? All normal people do ok on it, maybe its not so bad after all..............""
HA!!! that's when i crash.!! I have to remember! I AM NOT ' NORMAL" i NEED MORE NUTRITION THAN THOSE SAD PEOPLE WHO EAT ALL CRAP AND STILL FEEL HAPPY!!!!!!
sorry for yelling, I'm yelling at myself. SOmetimes I just plain forget how good all raw makes me feel--actualy most of the time.
Jennifer - remember that just because someone may seem less emotionally/physically senstive to SAD food, it doesn't mean it won't catch up to them in the long run in terms of poor health, disease, shortened life-span, etc. Also, the more pure your system is, the more obvious and immediate the effect of eating SAD food -- it's actually a good thing that you react to it so definitively. I've become grateful that I'm like a "canary in a coal mine" when it comes to my health -- I'd rather feel the effect of lack of sleep, for example, or of eating dairy (which clogs up my sinuses), right away, than feel "fine" but end up with some disease down the road. Being physically sensitive is a gift.
probably detox...detox is interesting and creative. thanks for the strength of putting it all out there! it takes a lot to stick with it when the body cleanses. you can do it though i can tell you know it....8^))
you need to whack it right around the top of the coconut with either a heavy handled knife or a machete..im an expert now and crack open those babies in no time....
are you having to take off the outer green shell,or just crack open the white coc...
we are hugely blessed to have Loren here i so agree...
ahh complete rest with eyes closed....sounds wonderful...just the not eating part for that long,i guess after a while you would lose your 'hunger' anyway ??
i would say give it time...if you are feeling flu like symptoms i would say you are detoxing...40 days isnt a long time, when you consider how long you havent been 100% well..your body will heal and clean house in its own time....
hey there Thad, well done on all your running?
you run on your fuel from yesterday, not the day of the run...how much did you eat the day before?how much did you sleep, were you hydrated enough, are you getting enough rest in general?
