Give it to me Raw

Today my dad told me that I should wait until I am 18 to do the raw food diet.

NO!

I am not waiting... I have been raw for over 2 weeks and I feel great. I don't want to stop eating this way and living this lifestyle.

He said it is just too expensive. It is ridiculous how my parents will buy me any amount of junk food or cooked food, but they wont buy me an abundance of fruit and vegetables.... the purest, healthiest food.

Do you guys know what the cheapest fruit is? I have to start really pitching in for my food but I don't have a reliable job so I barely make any money. I have a feeling I am going to be somewhat poor for a long time... but I still don't want to stop eating this way. I don't even think I could eat junk food or cooked food if i tried.... I am all set on this lifestyle....already snuggled in!

so.... anyone have ideas? cheap fruit?

buying things in bulk is usually the cheapest... stay away from pre-packaged and pre-cut fruits. And don't worry about being too exotic until you can afford it. do you have a local farmers market? Can you connect with a local grocery store and get their bruised and throw-away fruits (good for smoothies and juices)?

It is going to be more expensive than T.V. dinners and little debbie cakes, but if you are proactive enough, you will be able to get by. And I don't know your situation, but try to find a better job! You're parents don't sound very supportive of your new healthy choice, so you might have to end up buying everything yourself...

Good luck!

I do have a farmers market but it is pretty far away... and with gas prices I don't know if its worth it....!?

I will try to get bruised fruit from places... good idea!

And yea, I know I need to find a new job... I work at my local climbing gym and they don't give me enough hours. They said they will next month so maybe i will wait.

the cheapest fruit is always going to be whatever is currently in season.

Hmmm I don't think it is very open like that here in Nashville, TN... ha ha, we'll see though. Thanks!

apples arent in season yet but once they are I will defintely shoot for those. And right now i practically live off of bananas.... they are the cheapest i think!?

I googled wholesale fruit for my local area, found a supplier within 1 mile. They will deliver for free usually and a load cheaper than the supermarket

40lb Banana, case of oranges, cases of peppers, apples etc. FOR less than half the price the supermarkets price up

Cheapest way to do it

thanks everyone.

I don't know how many of you are familiar with "The Secret" but I often forget about it in the most important times. I will get through this and I will afford it. I will have an abundance of fruit and veggies. =)

Thanks for everyone's replies. It really helps.

the cheapest way is to grow your own-it may sound daunting at first, but it is so easy and so rewarding...green leaf vegetables like lettuce come in lots of shapes and sizes and tastes, sprouts can be grown indoors and they are cheap too, plus lots of seeds (ie tomato) are free as long as you remember before you eat them! You can be eating your very own grown salad in a few short weeks. If you want to read up on growing things from seed and collecting your own seed (so it becomes free after a while) then these guys are the best http://www.realseeds.co.uk/seedsavinginfo.html
Loads of great advice on seed saving and growing that you can download for free, plus they sell delicious rare and heirloom varieties...though I'm sure you have organic seed companies nearer to you than the UK!
Good luck with your dad-if it's any consolation, I'm 42 in a couple of weeks and whenever I see my Mum, she always asks if I'm 'still on that silly diet?' Good Luck!
