Give it to me Raw

okay so i just spent $150 on the Breville Juice Fountain. I am VERY excited but also doubting that I should have spent this much...am I really going to use it? I LOVE my blender which I make green smoothies in every morning but was getting bored and have read so many great things about juices. can someone motivate me and assure me that this was money well spent? great juice recipes would also be extremely encouraging! :) i'm honestly excited about simply juicing a few oranges and being able to drink pure organic fresh orange juice for once.

thanks guys! :)

p.s. my boss bought a snapple goji punch juice drink today (what the fudge??), thinking he was impressing me with his natural (or lack there of) drink. i did give him a thumbs up since it's a step away from his usual coke (eeeek!) ....well i went onto snapple's website to see what information they had to offer their consumers on this "immunity drink" and thought i'd humor you all with what i saw.......

"Defend your body! Help support your immune system. Did you know that in some remote places of the world, living to 100 years is not uncommon? No, not Long Island, but a 1,900 mile-long mountain range known as the Himalayas. So what’s the secret? A tiny red-orange fruit that just might be the world’s most powerful food: the Goji Berry. If you have not yet heard of the Goji Berry, you are not alone. While it’s been part of traditional Asian culture for countless generation, its benefits have remained a mystery to most of the world. . . until now."

this makes me laugh and at the same time gets me heated. what does SNAPPLE know about the goji berry and do they think they're funny with their Long Island reference? I live on long island (not something to brag about) and while we may be REMOTE from the rest of the country (again, not something to brag about), no one here is living to 100...especially with our god damn water system that is giving more people cancer than doing what it should be doing. (i know too many people who've been diagnosed with some sort of cancer and cannot help but blame our water for most of this damage and only hope that growing up on filtered water and now living the raw lifestyle might keep me in the minority of the population here.) has anyone come up with a fresh goji berry juice recipe? that'd be fantastic! ....anyways, i just spent way too much precious time and energy complaining about snapple. i'm going to step away from the computer and indulge in my new fabbbbulous juicer! hooorayy!!

You'll use it for sure...It's the bomb juicer..This is one of my favorite soup recipes I created. I hope you like it..

Thai Carrot Soup
Makes 2 small bowls or 1 big bowl with a little leftover..

13 Carrots
1 lemon, peel the yellow part but you can leave the white on.
11/2 inch piece of ginger

1/2 tsp. himalayan salt
1tsp. thai spice blend, frontier brand is shrimp free(but check if you buy a different brand because some brands have shrimp in them)
1 tsp. miso (optional, but good)
1 Tbl. Coconut butter
1/2 an avocado
3 Tbl. of Olive Oil

topping: Fresh Cilantro, finely minced

Juice the carrot, ginger and lemon in your new juicer. Then pour juice into blender with the other ingredients and top with some fresh cilantro..You will become severely addicted to this soup no joke..

i have the jack la lanne power juicer, and the only things ive juiced & really like is carrots, just plain carrots.
ive tried juicing spinach, but i feel like its sucha waste, id rather make a green smoothie w the spinach. i have yet to make fresh orange juice, but im positive that would be good.

& that thai carrot soup that kumara just posted sounds delish !

thanks for all the suggestions. i'm keeping the juicer. it ROCKS. i will probably stick to green smoothies as far as my main source of greens. however, i will add some greens to as many juices that i make, it can't hurt. i look forward to making soups with my juicer as well. and also love that i can just make fresh orange juice, fresh apple juice...fresh ANY kind of juice. :)

happy juicing.

I have the same juicer and it's awesome, at least for what I am using it for (mostly green and veggie juices). I get what people are saying about the juice/pulp thing, so I try to use the pulp for other things like dehydrated crackers, or in a soup. I am currently eating the Save the Salmon Patties from Ani Phyo's book, and she uses carrot pulp as part of the base. I like to think of the juicer as a machine that gives me two different things from just one veggie - juice and pulp!

It's actually surprisingly easy once you get the hang of it. No machete required. Shave off the husk at the pointed top close to the shell. Then poke the point of a knife in about 2 or 3 cm out from the centre and wiggle it about until it pierces ...
