I'm a nursing mama and I think I'm anemic again. I had anemia during pregnancy and the main symptom of dizziness is back. I don't currently take any supplements because they were really screwing with my digestion, particularly the iron supplements.
I'm thinking a scoop of spirulina to the morning green smoothie should right the balance? Can anyone concur or provide alternate suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for your input! I do eat cooked eggs on occasion so I will keep that in mind. I'm afraid I'm a bit too squicked out to do the raw meat or marrow though. Other than being a bit dizzy, I don't have any other symptoms and the dizziness started directly after doing my first colonic so I wonder if maybe it may be related to that and possibly not anemia at all.
iron supplements have been deemed too dangerous, the best is to get it from food. i just for diagnosed with low iron as well so i have been researching some sources of iron in raw foods (vegan only).
here are some to get you started:
dried fruits--peaches, apricots, raisins
pumpkin seeds
greens--dandelion greens, kale, chicory, spinach, mustard greens. wheatgrass!
There's a great book called Baby Greens that talks all about that. It's all about the raw vegan diet, nursing and raising raw babies. I remember there being information on anemia. I will look later.
I have the dizziness when I go from lying down to standing up, and I am clinically diagnosed anemic/low iron. If anyone finds something that works for them, please post here. I have not tried the spirulina. Anyone with anemia try it, did it get rid of your symptoms like dizziness?
In addition to eating iron-rich raw foods, you may look into the Angstrom Iron from Mother Earth Minerals (http://meminerals.com). The angstrom minerals are something like 99% absorbable, which is a LOT more than from food (including meat). Especially since you're breastfeeding... it's better to be on the safe side and provide yourself and your baby with everything you may require :)
I have tried the angstrom iron drops. Maybe I didn't take enough, but I followed the directions and I did not feel any improvement. Also, I am not breastfeeding. I don't have a baby.
I love it cause it is an intense workout over a short period of time. My son had a "jump rope for heart" week at school that got me into it. It uses different muscles than running and also improves coordination a lot, and I was surprised how well ...
Survivorman is crazier, did you see that episode in the desert when he started talking to birds? But I still like Grylls better overall. I feel like there is more of a point in watching the show, you feel like you're learning something, lots of tr...
