I felt that way to until I found the book 'The Twelfth Planet' by Zecharia Sitchin. Its translations from Sumerian tablets, 4000bc. It really shows mind blowing perspective on the correlations of ALL scriptures and "mythology". It explains every thing that modern society has confused. It does lower the veil of tabboo about religion, and the "end of the world" but I wont give away the best part...
on everyones lifes purpose, I believe that depending what stars you are born under is your ultimate destiny(rooted from ORBIT), which has nothing to do with fate which is the result from your choices which will either keep you aligned with your orbit in life or go careening off ending in a poof of galactic dust!
Personally, I prefer finding your own purpose; it makes you grow that much more... not just handed a pre-packaged purpose. Besides, are you talking about Western astrological signs?
