Give it to me Raw

Im curious as to how others have gone with the transition to raw food and its effect on their skin.
I have moderate acne around my jaw line and neck area it did improve when i first went raw but seems to pop up( Punt Intented) still even when i am strictly 100% raw. if anyone has had any experiences that can enlighten me i would be so thankful...

just an update:
I've been doing all fruits and greens for breakfast and lunch...
dinner has been all raw with recipes from Julianno's RAW and Bryan Au's Raw In Ten.... I've used a bit of nuts ( well, a lot in Bryan's book!) and some oils.... no breakouts!
Right now I'm on the Obaji skin system, though, and that's prescription stuff.. so maybe that's it.. but my diet is a dream.. I'm in heaven! no weight gain, no zits...
I tossed my foundation a week ago and my skin is just incredible so far. I wish I would have done that 20 years ago when I first started wearing it!

Dairy and grains break me out! :'( I'm trying to give them up. Drinking loads of water helps though! For me, the more raw vegan food I eat (and aerobic exercise i take), the better my skin gets :) also, I have been using some good natural makeup for a while which seems to be helping! The Everyday minerals and honeybee gardens brands are great! :D

I'd like to throw in my experience which possibly won't help anyone here but I'll give it anyway. I've been pretty much 100% raw for the last few months and 95% for two years. My skin has never been so bad horrible acne and red marks all over my chin and cheeks, jawline. I have played around with different things to help combat this problem however the last 4 days, after reading some information on dampening, I started eating cooked food again. I have only had 3 apples in the last few days and that's it, everything else has been cooked vegan and my skin is clearing rapidly.

I'm of course devastated by this as I feel sick, lethargic, unmotivated, smelly, foggy, miserable and angry but there's no denying my face is clearing now that I've cut out raw foods for a few days. My plan is to give it another few weeks to see if my skin clears completely then start to reintroduce raw again maybe along the lines of body ecology.

Just putting it out there that maybe chinese medicine has a point with that stuff?

Hi Emma,

Yes, I was devastated to find that as soon as I gave up eating a lot of fruit ( especially dried) my skin cleared rapidly. I have not been eating raw for quite some time now. Now I eat a LOT of raw greens, some oils and small bits of cooked protein. My skin has never looked better. In fact, it's perfect. I have dabbled back into raw a few times because I just LOVE it, but my face breaks out almost immediately. Apparently it's the fat / high glycemic ratio. I have done 80/10/10 with better success in that there is so little fat ... but I just can't stick to it. So, I find that I feel really wonderful eating the way I described above. By the way, I had bad breakouts when I was a vegetarian, too. Anything that converts to sugar i.e. breads, rice, pasta, grains..... it all breaks me out.. so I just stick to greens... a very FEW fruits ( and in very small amounts)... and some cooked protein... my skin looks fabulous! and I feel really great! It's just sad it took me all these years to find out what broke my skin out... good luck on your quest and thanks for sharing... but I DO miss all the beautiful raw foods!!!

that's really helpful thanks sheri yes i'm gutted and i've tried the same things as you

i can do high fruit but i always end up wanting fats so fruit + fat = disaster BUTTT I just can't do without my banana smoothies or without fruit i have trouble with the fruit element of my green juices and smoothies, i love medjool dates because i crave the sugars.

When you say stick to greens do you mean raw greens? My plan of action this week is cooked vegan food with lots of green leaves as a salad but nothing else.

It's amazing the difference in my skin, it's still clearing but it seems softer, brighter and moister since i incorporated some cooked

I'll give it 7 more days then take stock of what's happening...

actually I try very hard to do more raw greens.. for instance, I chop up collards like a salad and add pine nuts and red pepper and lemon juice.. maybe a touch of olive oil... sometimes I saute all kinds of fresh greens for just a minute in olive oil.... I am sure this isn't as good as raw, but I just LOVE it.. for me it has nothing to do with cooked or not cooked.. it just can't be anything that converts to sugar.... something like a sweet potato isn't as bad raw, but when it is cooked it is deadly for my skin.. seems to be the orange colored veggies.. I know this one cooked butternut squash recipe I made at Thanksgiving sent my skin into a mess.. it was squash cooked in the oven with some olive oil.... I still really think more raw foods are better, but I think lower glycemic foods are even better.. oh and another thing... fruit ( sugar) makes my joints ache horribly! I am an ex runner.. I have pounded my knees for years... and have to be careful now... when I eat fruit, I can barely walk. Yet another reason for me to stay away even though I LOVE fruit... I used to have a banana smoothie every day for lunch.... my skin was awful..... and YES... FRUIT + FAT = zit disaster

i know that feeling, i love love love frozen bananas in nut mylk but alas my skin hates me for it :(

Thanks for that, I have used h202 too with no success unfortunately and have followed all of the above religiously to watch my skin deteriorate and specifically have seen the direct patterns between what i eat and what subsequently happens on my face

the last thing I have yet to see whether it makes a difference is removal of mercury fillings which begins a week on Monday and will be completed by end of November. I'll of course want to make sure I'm eating plenty of greens during this time to mop up toxins. fruit will be a no-go, seems ridiculous and i hate it but my skin means a lot to me

thanks again :)

I have heard this theory too Niki! I have a hard time accepting that there are egg sacks that come out of peoples faces except in tropical countries. Also it is strange that this hasn't been advertised because it is so guesome that you'd think some company would have a hay day explaining how their products kills these egg sacks..

But I do believe that the body can be affected- weakened by all of the toxins in the environment. And this can lead to immune responses including the inability of the skin to heal and keep bacteria at bay. Where do you get your humic\fulvic acid? I remember hearing about that for the first time a while back.

Acne seems to be such a huge issue. It could be a huge incentive for kids to go raw vegan as well.

Awesome Universe, www.Fulvic.org has the best priced Fulvic, Humic acid and other products too, that I've found
Dr. Cassar recommends Carl Zimmers book "Parasite Rex"a college text book which explains the cycles of the microscopic to the easy to see bugs. The sacs vary in size from microscopic to easily seen with eyes.
All Dr.s are trained briefly in Parasitology in college BUT this subject is heavily suppressed by Pharmacuetical companies because they make huge amounts of money on drugs and procedures that would be elliminated if the broad public knew this data. They even attacked doctors who wrote about it and how it contributes to cancer etc.[Dr. H. Clark is one] I've read alot of ads and books on this-just google it -or not.
* I know how gruesome it can seem and that's probably why so few confront the subject in life.
But I love to "FLATTEN MY BUTTONS" so to speak by confronting important things that I cringe from. This way I can learn all i need to know to care for myself and others--hopefully!
*It's not for everybody-mothers usually get it though.
~*~Another cycle of life.
