Give it to me Raw

Im curious as to how others have gone with the transition to raw food and its effect on their skin.
I have moderate acne around my jaw line and neck area it did improve when i first went raw but seems to pop up( Punt Intented) still even when i am strictly 100% raw. if anyone has had any experiences that can enlighten me i would be so thankful...

The same happened to me, it first improved and then got bad again. In my case my skin was just cleansing and getting rid of it all. If I eat well then my skin stays clean but if I cheat or eat too much sugar then I get a spot or two.

In my case I don't believe my acne will ever go away, I think I need always think about what I eat because if I don't it comes back. But hey, no need to cry about it right? Just keep up the good work, let it cleanse it self for a few weeks and then see if it won't go away.

Sorry to say but this is a long process, so just be patient. If you want to the result faster then you need to take medicine for it..

Good luck :)

I agree to what you said. There are several factors that cause acne: hormone imbalances, diet, deficiencies, stress and more. Many people search for remedies in medicated creams and astringent ointments without realizing that even though breakouts and pimples are external, the causes are internal. Treatments that are applied to the skin can only go so far in relieving the manifestation. Since topical lotions do not address the causes, they offer at best only a temporary solution.

Eating raw foods will not only help with elimination, but will also go a long way in correcting some of the other underlying issues such as hormonal problems, deficiencies and others.

Adopting the raw food diet will remove processed sugars and fatty foods from your diet. In “Your Right to Be Beautiful” I bring out the fact that when you eat sugar, the body will push out all excess sugar through the pores of the skin, causing acne. If you avoid all refined sugars and fatty foods your skin will clear itself of acne. Giving up sugar is a major portion of the beauty equation.

People have oxygenating, detoxifying or blue light therapy treatments for their skin. I would not recommend any treatment. One must consult one's doctor.

After years and years of acne and thinking I was eating such healthy natural things, I have FINALLY found out what causes it in me and have learned to control it 100% !!!!!! it is SO exciting!!!
My acne pops up ( pun intended!) whenever I eat foods high on the glycemic level. This includes raw or dried fruits high on the glycemic load, grains, rice, pasta , anything with wheat, potatoes, sugar, honey, ..... the list goes on.
By going raw or eating mostly raw, I have eliminated many of these foods.... however, when go too heavy on the fruit, my face breaks out.
For instance, over spring break I fell in love with dried organic mulberries.. and also had a huge bowl of grapes on hand... I over did the two, and my face broke out pretty bad.... so the week after, I cut out all fruit and any source of sugar, and my face was crystal clear once again! so.. now , even though I do fall off of the wagon once in awhile, at least I know how to "fix" the problem fast....
oh, also.. dairy was one of the worst offenders too.... like yogurt... back when I was a vegetarian and would eat things like yogurt with granola in it, my skin would totally erupt!
The way I figured this out was by reading Dr. Perricone's Clear Skin Solution. It made sense as to why so many of the things I thought were healthy were breaking my skin out. And this is why raw works so well for me...
Wheat and sugar , even natural sugar in fruits, are really bad for some people.... they raise the glycemic level and cause inflamation... aka... acne!!! and aging.. and arthritis! it's all various types of inflamation....
SO.. my suggestion to you is to cut way back on the fruit and anything else that has sugar.. see what happens.... you can look up the glycemic loads in books or on the net....
also, the amount of a food has a lot to do with it too... obviously if you eat a LOT of a food that has a low level, you will still end up with a high level.. so that isn't good...
if you eat a food with a high level but just have a tiny bit, it won't affect you as much.
I hope this helps... I am finally acne free ( most of the time) and feel SO grateful to understand what breaks my face out...

The body goes through cyclic periods of cleansing layer after layer. Skin rashes, spots etc are typical symptoms of cleansing this can be more prominent in the spring time as the liver starts its cleanse. Avoiding or minimising heat producing foods like nuts, some seeds, etc can help cool the liver, especially when its busy at this time of year and this can lessen the signs of heat on the skin i.e spots, rashes. Applying coconut oil externally at night can help soothe any sensations of heat.

I've discovered mine is always due to over scrubbing or stress. It really had nothing to do with what I was eating in my case. Stress is the number one enemy. It brings little pimples and canker sores!!! Yuck. If that's the case for you try meditation at the beginning and at the end of the day.

I believe stress is definately a factor in causing acne, but isnt it hard to avoid... Im considering yoga as a form of relaxaion.

Its a weird situation. I def broke out around the same area as you and whats really weird is that whenever I go raw I break out when I mess up and eat SAD food it goes away and my skin is clear. soo im guessing its detox.

yup, same thing happened to me. I never had really bad acne, but just random blemishes esp. around my period. When I went raw it cleared up and my skin was all glowy and nice. Then somehow someway my face started to break out again. I heard that using a makeup brush can make it break out because of the bacteria. I am not sure how true that is because even when I avoid wearing make up (it is organic and all natural mineral powder) I still rbreak out. I have heard of raw foodist using MSM to get the glow. I just bought some so we shall see.

Thank you for your replies i was surprised to see so many.
I have taken on board everything you guys have said, coincedently i have only recently discovered the link between high glycemic levels having an effect on acne prone skin. i was a big fan of honey and dried dates so this week i have eliminated those as they are both way up there in glycemic level.
I have had a wonderful result with this no more spots and im clearing up really fast... Hopefuly i tooo have found my contributing factors like you sheri!!, if i have then my journey will be all the better. I do agree with Asta in that i will always have to think about what i eat, but its good to have some idea of what to avoid so i feel some control..

Yes, Bel,

I'm always so amazed that when I cut out all high glycemic things .. like zero... my face clears so rapidly!
Glad you have had some results and now have a way to clear it....

This thread has been so helpful! For most of my life, I have had clear skin. Unfortunately, since going (mostly) raw and 100% vegan, acne has become very noticeable on my forehead! I do eat a lot of fruit and dark chocolate, so I am going to cut out these sugars and see what happens! Thanks again:)
