Give it to me Raw

The other day I went to the dr, a sort of semi liberal doctor, actually a nurse practitioner, because the actual dr moved to CA, go figure, maybe its more open minded out there!! :)

Anyhow, she tested my thyroid, says its low and wants to put me on medication.

Fixing that could help with the depression I have problems with, so I'm excited, but I also want to know if there is a natural method of doing that. I hate drugs.
Does anyone know?

Does the raw diet help? (duh!!) Last april after being at the Tree of Life for awhile Gabriel tested my thyroid "energetically" or muscle, or whatever that is, and said its ok, but I haven't been all raw since about last May!! Maybe it got bad again since I started eating crap. ?

thanks!

Rawzi- on this same website, there is an article about the antigoitrogenic effects of casein! Have you found that dairy is helpful as this seems to imply? I didn't read the abstract because my brain isn't working right now;-P

plus you need to nourish your adrenals for thyroid support. salt, licorice, siberian ginseng, protein etc. maca may be an endocrine adaptogen too.

Hi, here is my comment for another gland-problem, i copied it and poste it here:

Hi, there´s a tea-combination, that may help you, it cleans the lymph of all glands in your body. So they start functioning well.
Its no push-up, or downer-effect, it really cleanes up the lymph of all your glands, and after that, its much better.
Its a mixture of "galium verum - herbs" and "cistus labdaniferus - herbs" bout 50 to 50-mix.

I took it for a month, and it was really ok, cause i had a mixture of exhausted hypothyreosis out of a hyperthyreosis, that switched all the time. The blood showed either hypo- or hyper- thyreosis and they adviced me to take medicine against it. (I never took it, I think that substitution leads to much greater disfunction.) I drank this tea for a month, and after two weeks it was ok already. The herbs-woman told me "one month", and I took it one month. In this time I got lots of pimples around my neck, but they are gone now, and I feel good. I guess the pimples were the cleanse of the thyreoidea.

Starting the day with "Hello my dear glands, I love you, please be gentle to each other" may be a good way too.
The gland that puts out the TSH (thyreoidea-stimulating-hormone) is the hypophysis - so just working on the thyreoidea might be the wrong way to heal something about her function. (I experienced this, cause I tried a very long time to make it better with herbs that are just good for the thyreoidea - and it worked allways for a short time, and then got worse again.)

I had success, with my thyreoidea, when I learned to be kind to my hypophysis.

good luck

The raw food diet definitely helped me, Jef. You can read my story in detail here, but I'll give you the short-hand version: I'd been eating lots of soy products, and that really did a number on my thyroid & metabolism. It took quite awhile to figure out what ailed me, but by then I'd put on a lot of weight.

I turned it around medically by getting off all soy and by adding raw coconut oil regularly to my diet. Eventually I did have a thyroid test and, while the results were low they were borderline, so it appeared I'd overcome the challenge with diet. Eventually it certainly ceased to be an issue. And if you've got depression problems, all I can say is *green smoothies*. :D

Three blenderfuls a day. Am happy to help with suggestions. I would be extremely surprised if you did not feel radically different after incorporating them into your daily regimen consistently! :)

Also... get some raw cacao & make a chocolate smoothie every day! Another thing most excellent for increasing a sense of well-being. Just the magnesium alone in the cacao might do wonders!

Thanks Angela.
I know that raw food can help me. If I drink 3 blenderfulls per day, will I be hungry for anything else? What do they need to have in them>?
I've been having fruit like strawberries and blueberries and sour cherries, or strawberries and banana, or other combos along with some chia seeds, and lots of salad and sunflower greens, almost every day. It turns out to be about 3/4 or 2/3 of a blender full .. Maybe a quart, and I can taste the fruit but it definitly doesn't taste sweet or good to 100% "SAD" eaters. In other words, I think I put plenty enough greens in. About 4-6 cups, if you can measure salad in cups.
I'll go read your story. I'd love suggestions. My main thing is motivation, and self sabotage right now though. Anyone have suggestions about that? I'm thinking of getting a coach, or trying EFT. It seems lots of people have problems with that around this community, and have trouble staying raw.
I may just try that 3 smoothie a day thing. It certainly would keep my stomach full and detract from the cracker binges.

Also, I pretty much thought that cacao would be a bad idea because it would be harder on my adrenals.?? I've almost completly gotten off caffiene (except not chocolate anymore) otherwise, as its not good for me.

Jennifer

Would I need to mix it up, and is it ok if the berries are frozen?
