I have heard a few times from some raw foodies in this community and elsewhere that you have to drink your green smoothie minutes after making it because the enzymes and nutrients lose their power quickly. Does anyone else know anything about this? How does it loose its power? Does the blending break up the nutrients somehow? I am confused and tried to google it, but found no info. If this is the case, I need to make smaller batches of green smoothie because there is no way I can gulp it all down in ten minutes!!
I think it's best to consume your green smoothies within 2 hours....they do loose some of its potency after a while. I stopped sipping them and try to drink it within 12-20 mins after making them. You taste the difference after a while especially when it comes to carrots/apples and green juices/smoothies i've noticed. But dont just take it from me make a large batch of your next green juice/smoothie, drink half of it right away..then split whats left in 2 portions leave one at room temperature (i would walk around withmy green smoothies when i was juice feasting so thats how i had mine at times) and the other stick in the fridge. After 2 or 3 hours taste each of them..how does it taste to you...?
Yeah, I have made large batches and then I took half with me to work and then stuck the other half in the fridge for the next day. I didn't notice a huge difference in taste, but it could also be because it was cold and I know some foods taste better when they are cold rather than at room temperature. I think 2 hours is a good window to finish it. I heard after 10 minutes it loses its energy and I didn't know if I should really gulp it down that fast :) Thanks Sheryl!
Fresh is always better. After a while you can tell it is not as energizing. I sip my smoothie all day long. By the end of the day it doesn't have the same kick any longer.
I am not sure how many nutrients it will lose. I am sure it will lose significant amount. But nutrient are not everything. I am more interested in how alkalizing and energizing the drink is. It definitely loses some power. But something is better than nothing :)
I think that it start to "die" quickly. It is like life is slowly disappearing from it. Thats just how it seems to me. Of course it all depends how old are the greens. If they are old, it might not make much difference :)
Wow! thanks for that info! I like your outlook too. I just wasn't aware of how much was actually lost after a while. If 80% of the good stuff is still there, then I am happy with that. I just didn't want to make a ton and then have it later without any of the good stuff...I feel like its money lost. I will probably stick to making about a couple jars worth and enjoy it the next day. As long as its healthier than v8, I am happy!
yeah, the wire is a real slow-burner....quite the opposite of 24 that i also really loved
i have been without a tv for almost 3 years so i'm just getting into all of this

LOVE IT, Greengoddess! You tell those demons! I am actually enjoying getting to know them. They are not that bad if you just give em' a little attention and acknowledgment. They seem to be getting ready to leave.....at ANY moment now. I am startin...
I'm new to this lifestyle, and I'm enjoying the benefits of it thus far, both mental and physical...the spiritual will follow i'm sure. Anyway, I've been in a relationship for 4 years now and now that i'm ready for a massive change for the positiv...
The Wire is a good one.
Am I the only one who got into Rome? I really enjoyed that series.
Six Feet Under was great too. HBO puts out some really good television I think.

because fasting is absence of intake and eating fruit is....eating fruit
eating fruit (or anything else) would not allow the body to go into the fasting state
Yeah, cuz Bear ain't worried about trying to survive. He's surrounded by a full film crew and sleeps at the Ramada or the Hilton at night. It's easy to make jokes when you're not worried about dying.
Not saying his show ain't entertaining, but do...
I love it cause it is an intense workout over a short period of time. My son had a "jump rope for heart" week at school that got me into it. It uses different muscles than running and also improves coordination a lot, and I was surprised how well ...
Survivorman is crazier, did you see that episode in the desert when he started talking to birds? But I still like Grylls better overall. I feel like there is more of a point in watching the show, you feel like you're learning something, lots of tr...
