So here's the deal... I've been having "female" problems for the last year (in that I don't get my monthly "visit") and my doctor is doing a "progesterone challenge" on me to see if she can figure out the problem. The basic premise is that I'll take a progesterone pill once/day for 10 days... if I have "visit" at the end of 10 days, that means my body produces its own estrogen. If I DON'T have a "visit", my body doesn't produce estrogen (opening up a whole bunch of other tests). Progesterone is a natural hormone... but I'm just wary of taking it in un-natural ways (pill form) and how my body might react to it.
Does anyone have any knowledge/experience/wisdom to share about this topic? Should I just take the pills??
PS I called it a "visit" to spare the eyes of any males who may have innocently wandered into this chat ;)
hi there. i have a really good doc (he is a bio chemist and pretty raw himself) and he says we should not take any hormones orally. not sure if what you/your doc is trying to do is for the same problem (for me i lack progesterone)... but in a nut shell as we woman get older we don't always drop an egg every month. in a "normal" cycle when we do drop an egg, a corpus luteum is produced which gives us progesterone which balances out our estrogen. so if you are not dropping eggs each month, there is no corpus luteum formed and we will then have an abundance of estrogen. this causes some problems. in order to balance i am on this program... i use a progesterone creme (progesta plus- derived from wild yams) from mid-cycle to the start of a "visit", and take vitex (from chaste tree by nature's way) to help enhance the production of progesterone. hope that helps! :)
Hmm.. Does that include Thyroid hormone? I'm healing from hypothryoidism (& adrenal failure), and currently take Armour daily-- which is pretty much dried pig's thyroid.. My goal is by Dec 2008 to be able to stop taking all pills.. For me, acupuncture, yoga & a good diet are the Way ----
Have you tried going 100% raw for 6 weeks? Someone I know had never had a regular 'visit' until she did this. Before this and even on 80% raw she only had one or two 'visits' a year. She has not missed one now in 2 years or more. Our body does work well, if we are not poisoning it.

So, I ate some (too unripe) pineapple and it "ate" some of me. Sore lips, chapped mouth corners, slightly sensitive/swollen tongue. Anyone know of good remedies for these conditions? Was thinking I should avoid stretching and licking my lips, and ...

P.S. I have a hard time sleeping without some nightcap food too. I was addicted to bananas and almond butter before bed, but I'm trying to phase it out by freezing bananas in the morning and then making raw ice cream at night.
Banana peach coconut smoothie for breakfast, then
3 Collard wraps with spicy mango salsa, avocado, onion, cilantro, sprouts, and sauteed portabello mushroom. Amazing.
Now I'm contemplating dinner. Might treat myself to Que Seraw Seraw in Burlinga...

hi stacey,
I was doing Hatha Yoga, that involves asanas, prayanama, bandha and mudras.
Apart from yoga we were taught Anatomy, Psychology, Philosophy etc., so that the students of this course could teach yoga and take it as a profession later.
I had a green juice (Celery, Cilantro, Parsley, Apple, Ginger, Fennel, Chard)
And a massive salad with wild caught sardine.
Coconut leek cilantro and lime soup
Might have a coconut kefir smoothie in a hour or two
