Give it to me Raw

Katy Smith

If you could "convert" a famous person to raw, dead or alive who would it be and why???

Just curious.... for me it would have to be Elvis, just because he was an amazing person on a worse than typical SAD diet and I wonder what he'd be like and how his music would be if he got some raw energy...?

Or...

George Clooney..... just cos then we'd live together (I may be dreaming slighty here) and experience some raw living and some raw loving ;-) ;-) Hehehe!

How about youuuuuuu???

Andy Kaufman. Andy loved dairy ice cream and dairy chocolate so much, that he got cancer. Andy is so funny, he tried eating macrobiotic during the day, just so he could balance out his nightly pints of ice cream.

Now all of us in the raw world ...we have raw ice cream AND raw chocolate. Andy would have loved that.

Andy was just ahead of his time. In more ways than one.

Don't know about Andy? You can learn more here:

Hehe I'm loving all the replies.... like the idea of the world leaders going raw.... just imagine being in on one of those meetings.... they could have superfood smoothies instead of coffee! ha!

How about Ronald Mcdonald? Sure he could do with some raw love in his life.... and the dude from KFC, and captain BirdsEye.... no more fish fingers for you kiddies haha!

Awesome thread, Katy! I gotta agree with you on Elvis! Just imagine the kitchen at Graceland with a Vitamix, dehydrator, and food processor!!!! He would have stayed the gorgeous, fit Elvis forever....

As for celebs still with us, I think Oprah would be my first choice. I just saw her webcast with Eckhart Tolle and was thinking that she would be an amazing raw role model. Partly because she very admittedly struggles with food like the rest of us and is not scared to tell the truth...people relate to that and I think seeing her transformation from raw food diet would cause a tidal wave of awareness and support throughout the world.
Wouldn't that be awesome!!!

As some other people have said, Oprah. She's hugely influential, so her stamp of approval would be a great boost to the living foods movement. But also, she's struggled with weight for much of her life, and a raw diet might help with that. Unfortunately, she has such intense food issues that it would probably be very difficult for her to go 100% raw and not give in to her cravings. Especially with people like Bob Greene around, with all of his endorsements for packaged food.

This is very pop-culture, but Britney Spears. I always see pictures of her at fast food joints and I wonder how it impacts her behaviour and mental/emotional capabilities.

Ok. Oscar Peterson. There's my choice for today.
Such impossible talent blooms forth and fades...
and may not take care itself in diet.
Here's a musical link for anyone, to start their day;
Mr. Jim Martinez in Florida, playing Oscar's more calm composition,
Hymn To Freedom

Then on the side bar, Oscar for real. A nice choice there is:

im confused. matt monarch swears by regular colonic hydrotherapy. its his no.1 raw tip, didn't think it could be dangerous but now it kind of makes sense. enemas seem much more natural in comparison.

I've heard great, great things about Living Light Culinary Arts Institute in Fort Bragg, CA. I know that isn't really in the Los Angeles area, but it's still in CA and I believe they provide students the option to stay in their 'Living Light Inn'....

The way I see it is that generally people who label themselves are confident of the path they have chosen while, also generally, people don't don't label aren't quite as sure if what they're following is the right way to go.
