Hello,
I am getting a dehydrator and I want the 9 tray but can't imagine needing so many trays. I welcome anybodies feedback on how happy they have been with their dehydrators. ( Also, do you wish you had 9 trays? or do you wish your appliance were a little smaller and 5 trays would have been plenty?)
thank you for any imput here.
Love,
Astarte

I live alone and I have a four tray dehydrator. I wish I had one with nine trays! Everything Debbie says is sooo right. When you are making crackers or "bread" you want to make a lots of it because it takes time to do it (and they taste so good you want to have enough ;)
Also I was trying a new recipe with some sweets and beause they were shaped like ball (ca.3m high) I needed to take out every other tray and only use two trays, then I really wanted to have one with nine trays.
GO FOR THE 9-TRAY!!! Don't even hesitate!!! You will find so many uses and like Debbie said a lot of recipes require several trays. I'm usually dehydrating one or two things at the same time (being careful to not mix "smells"). If I could afford it, I'd have 2 or 3 nine tray dehydrators and there's only two of us!!
My vote is for the 9 tray...I have it...thought it might be to big for me too...I don't use it anymore now that I have switched to 80/10/10 but for the amount of time you need to dehydrate something it is best to make up a bunch of stuff at one time and do it all at once...xox
hehehehe! Thank you soooo much for your input Debbie, Asta, Hi ho Rosie, and I love raw! This is exactly the feedback I was looking for. I am convinced to go for the 9 tray! Finally, I have made my decision and can order today. Yipee!!!
Hi Sara!
I got a 9 tray one year ago.
I too wanted a five tray from the beginning, not any more.
I mostly make bread and make all 9 trays at the same time.
Honestly, making bread is fun in the beginning, later on - not so much.
Not saying that i dont think its fun trying new recipes.
With the 9 tray u can store more food, thus sit in your garden reading a book - timesaving!! :))

I bought a 5 tray and love it. I've only used all 5 trays at once a few times. If I were going to make food for two peolple, I'd go with the 9 tray! :)
I bought the 5-tray since I live in NYC, have very little kitchen space, and had NO IDEA how much I would be using my dehydrator. I would totally vote for a 9-tray if you have the room! I am now trying to figure out how to afford/fit another dehydrator in my kitchen and will be going for the 9-tray this time. I make lots of crackers and bread so I could do that in the 9-tray and smaller projects in the 5.
The three kitchen appliances I could never live without...my excalibur, my Vitamix, and my greenstar juicer! Now if I could just convince my roommates to ditch the toaster oven, coffee maker, and microwave, I think I would have more than enough space for a second dehydrator. I will continue to woo them over to my side with macaroons and flax crackers!!!
Thank you all again for all your responses! I can really see that the 9 tray will work really well for me, esp. because I want to make stuff for my family as well. Mmm, I can't wait to be able to make all the recipes in my cookbooks. Once this arrives, my raw kitchen will be stocked! (vitamix, champion juicer, and food processor)! I know what you mean Rachel, I would love to get rid of our toaster oven, turn off the stove and put a big cutting board in it's place!!
Love

Hi Astarte,
The first Excalibur that I bought since I became raw 4 years ago, was a 5 tray. However, in getting into doing
take-outs and giving classes, it wasn't enough. Since moving to Israel about 7 1/2 months ago, I decided to
purchase 9 tray here, which is fantastic! I feel that I can not only make a few trays of crackers, but can warm up soup,
or make other delicacies at the same time.
It really depends upon what you're going to use it for.
