Give it to me Raw

The Basics

We won some prizes, we're giving them away, tell us how community has impacted your life in this thread and in one week we'll announce the winners.

Details

Back in December Give It To Me Raw won "Best Raw Website" from the Best of Raw 2008 Competition (hosted by Laura Fox).

As part of the competition we won 10 Prizes from the Best of Raw team. Here's the deal, GI2MR is a community site, we won best site because of you! So it's only fair that we give these prizes right back to the community that has made us into the success we are.

If we had 5,600 prizes then it would make giving these prizes away very easy - one for each member. But since we don't, I'm asking for the following...

The Power of Community

Drop us a quick note (no more than 300 words) about the impact that community has played in your health journey. You can reply right here to this thread.

My friends Charles, Matt and Courtney will pick the 10 winners on February 11th, 2009 (that gives you 1 week).

Here are the list of Prizes.

Prize List

Three people will get this prize: David Wolfe is donating three 3 signed copies of the “Sunfood Diet Success System”!

Two people will get this prize: Angela Stokes and Matt Monarch will be offering a copy of their e-books Raw Emotions and Raw Success!

Ooh, that's so great!

And it's SO easy to tell you about how much I love Give it To Me Raw and what it's done for me! It's just opened up the world of raw foods for me in a bigger way than ever! I used to always just surf around for raw links, sites, and blogs and felt like I knew all the raw sites...but then Give it To Me Raw came on the scene and I discovered all sorts of people who've influenced my health, life, and raw world in big ways...I love the way Druhumil and the GITMR team is always opening up people to different possibilities, giving so many special people the "spotlight", which, I think...is so others focused and encouraging! Keep it up ya'll! Glad to be part of such a loving, encouraging site and make my world bigger!

If Mark or Goodfella win please don't give them the signed copy of David Wolfe's book for God's sake.

My introduction to raw was the book Self healing colitis and chrons by David Klein. I thought I had it all figured out after reading that book and knew exactly what to do to heal myself of this colitis that I had been suffering from for over 7years. Things didn't go so smoothly though!! I was eating all raw foods but I didn't really know what I was doing. Juicing fruits and non-organic lettuce. Not resting enough etc... I gave up. Raw wasn't working and I pretty much figured, if this didn't heal me nothing will. So I binged for almost a month straight on whatever I wanted and I ended up in the worst pain I've ever been in!

I decided to return to raw and that's when I found this site. I found several members that had already gone through what I was about to. It was here that I found the footsteps to follow and I can't thank you all enough! After receiving some amazing advice from more experienced members, I simply followed it along with my ever increasing instinct. Now I'm here enjoying green smoothies and giant meals of fruit without pain!! Finally! This is a website that changes lives. You folks have paved the way through the raw bushes of life ; ) now others can follow the path without getting lost.

I have not been able to sustain raw very much more than on a few scattered occaisions since I joined GITMR. I am learning to let go and let God, in time I will reach my goals and sustain my health. I have sustained the loss of my mother, and struggled with her Alzheimer's illness, I am trying to correct some severe dental issues that festered while I was a care giver. Most would say that being a part of the community has done nothing for me, but they would be wrong. I learn each time I join in here, I am not judged harshly. I am comforted by many I consider real friends not just online friends. I have been urged gently towards a raw lifestyle, and I know I aspire to a better, healthier life. I know that I am not a percentage, and that I must do what feels right for me, today and always. I have been deeply touched by Dhrumil's "eye contact" and have followed Phillip through the changes he has made. I belong to groups I love and have found solace with Amari Cruz's light and levity as well as Elbo's sharing and caring. I have gained the world and a reason to move forward. Who could ask for anything more?

i like prizes. these seem like they're worth a shot. here's my entry:

i haven't found much raw activity around me physically, and i'm shy, so it's hard to just go up to someone i see eating an orange in the park and ask if they're into raw food. gi2mr has opened a whole new dimension for me. being able to connect with people who know about stuff that i didn't even know EXISTED just blows my mind. i get on here every day to learn something new, whether it's about breatharianism or emotional freedom techniques. i never would have heard of these things on my own. i sometimes feel alone in my pursuit of health, and gi2mr reminds me that i am not.

Community is My Life Line
Community is the reason I don't worry about much these days. It is not that I have nothing to worry about. I have leukemia, we four live on one income and our savings is well, it's there but it's not large. It's that I know with all my heart that people care about me, will pray/send good vibes for me, that I can talk about anything and someone will understand, someone in this community. It also gives me a chance to be of service, to be a caring person, to laugh and have fun and inspire others to heal themselves.
Dhru and Give it to me raw, Kris Carr and Crazy Sexy Llife, Bunny Berry and Raw Fu, Twitter, these are my communities of choice. I would not be who I am today without them. When I was dx with canser, I went on a search for answers, for help, for healing and for support. Community is what I found, in specific, the raw food community. If I had not had this resource, I know for a fact that I would be facing useless and harmful drugs, alone, and my demise a tad too soon for my liking.
My blog is a community, albeit a small one, inspired by Dhrumil's incredible gift for bringing the truth and the raw to light, for Kris' bold ass kicking sass towards wellness and Bunny's honest take on raw and life.
Encouraged, enlightened, supported, cared for, loved, all these things have come to me via community. And if I am able to give back even a fraction of what I have already received then I will truly be living a blessed life.
I guess what I am getting at is this: I am a winner because of these communities and I am rich in the cherished friends I have made there.

Go Germany! I'm no longer working with The LifeCo & Saf in Muc, or organising events, workshops & talks in Muc, as I am abroad. I still consult clients & can provide your fave superfoods. My RawCacaoLove chocolate can be ordered through me directly.

my magic bullet burnt out, it was good for travelling while I had it though. Can you get a second hand blender? The cheaper ones I have used don't chop up the greens as well. Try to get something with a higher wattage, like 1000watt.
