Obama/McCain - Doesn't Matter Who Wins - Both will push agenda for big business

I find it sad that people actually feel that the elections are going to bring change. I mean, both candidates are not good for the country, but rather are good for their own interests which is big business and keeping the global empire running. I'm a supporter of Ron Paul and his beliefs in limited government and I'm afraid to say that no matter who is picked from the media-favorite two candidates, that neither will make the change we want to see. It's all what the people want to hear and quite honestly, a lot of people are stupid. I'm just saying it as it is. I wish that the world was run by nice people, but it really isn't. I feel we should open our eyes to understanding the type of society we will live and how pathetic most of the people are. Drugs, drinking alcohol, eating animals, destroying our bodies, not creating art, not loving.

Any like minded people from NY who want to network? I'm a filmmaker who is trying to make a change through film...

Aside from that, what's your thoughts on what I said?

People think they have a choice and that it's a true democracy but it really isn't. The problem lies deep within our culture. Our economy is based on constant growth and the expense of everything else (our health, the environment, the climate, the rivers, the oceans, the air, the species... Unfortunately the world isn't run by "nice people". It is run by money, and those who have the most of it. If you think about it money has no real value(or very little). It is just a mass hallucination that we all agree upon.

I honestly don't think a politician or any government will bring the kind of drastic change we need. It won't be allowed to happen. The kind of changes that need to take place are too dramatic, too radical and not good for the economy. They are good for us, good for the planet, good for life and our well being, but not efficient money makers. There is little to no financial gain to be had by making such changes. What does the economy really fucking matter when it comes down to life or death of our species and every other species on the planet. When we have no clean air, clean water, or and cannot grow clean natural food to eat, we will realize that money has/had no value. We cannot buy those things back once they are gone.

Humans are by nature lazy. We want the most value for the least effort. We've been able to rob the environment for centuries without having to pay the true value of our actions. But the world has become more populated and we have become much more efficient thieves. Pay day will come, but it's hard to believe something on faith when the profit is a fact. Unfortunately, by the time it happens it may be past a chance of recovery. Already, thousands of species have died that we may never see again.

You're hired! And I'll give you 50 cents extra to water every day!

Yes, I'm sure it will work out . . .

I'm with you. I know way too much about how things really work and who's actually in charge to have any faith in the two-party system. It can be very depressing. But, I see a big shift in consciousness happening, so I actually have hope that the power will soon be shifting out of the hands of those who hold it now. They've been pushing things too far and it's going to backfire on them. Either that, or we become a virtually fascist society first.
I'm choosing to be optimistic on this one!

You are so right- Erin I feel that too.

Optimism is the only attitude that will help us make it. Optimism without action does very little to create change though. You're right...A big shift in consciousness is happening, and even if it's not a majority of the world population that's okay because a small amount of people have can have the largest impact on the world. Just as the very small amount of people that have most of the money, the small amount of people doing their part for a better world will create change on a much larger scale once the rest of the population sees that a better world and a better life is possible.

I'm not on the Ron Paul boat either...Not that there is any chance for him though anyway.

That is true...but...because of aggressive advertising from a very young age we are "programed" to want things we don't really need, like huge power sucking homes, gas guzzling suvs, coca cola, and iPhones... We vote with our dollars but many of us don't really know any better. We are taught to think that these things will make us happy but they really don't.

It's not what we spend our dollars on that makes the biggest difference but what we don't spend our dollars on that has the most significant effect. Just like with raw food...initially it's not what your eating but what you are not that causes the most significant improvement in health.

If voting changed anything, they'd make it illegal.

No kidding! If our votes were really all meant to count we wouldn't still have the electoral college. I think I'll skip the lines tis year:)
